So frustrated....

DH has been underemployed for the past two years - he has been waiting tables. He works 16 hours a day and sometimes comes home with no money Chat Icon

Keeps applying for jobs but nothing is working out - even followed up on promising referrals just to have the referral source not help as much as was said...

I never see him and I feel bad that he has to bust his a** for nothing Chat Icon

Re: So frustrated....

ugh i can only imagine. its why it annoys me when people stiff a waitress or give low ball tips (with good service) because they think they get a base pay which is not always the case.

i complain about dh but i have to be fair he does have a paying job its just very VERY little pay. He has to work massive OT (which they cut) in order for us to really have money after all the bills are paid. I can't find a second job, he refuses to work a second job because if he gets OT its just best for him to work it. IT KILLS me to no end knowing that he hasn't had a raise in 10 years and yet he won't go anywhere else because he is afraid of not having a job.

Re: So frustrated....

Just throwing this out there, but if he does have customer service experience, try looking into home care agencies. They are usually always hiring for staffing coordinators which ties into the sales industry a lot.

It's tough out there. I ran into someone today that has extensive social work experience. She went to Florida for a year to take care of her dying mother. She came back to our area and was desperate and ended up taking a job at our agency as a home health aide in the meantime while she interviews and tries to find something better that actually is in line with her experience and education.

The economy is very humbling these days.

Even DH who is very talented in carpentry/masonry and owns his own business and has done work for the rich and famous of NY has started applying to places like Home Depot and Stop & Shop lately.

Thank you for your help - I'm also a social worker so you and I know we can't support too many people on our salaries LOL
