What's the difference?

Why do some doctors put you on Clomid first and THEN do IUI if it doesn't work and some doctors do IUI first and then put you on Clomid?

Is it because of different problems the female has or is it just a preference of some docs?

Anyone know??

It depends what your case is. My gyno first put me on Clomid because I wasnt ovulating and I was irregular. The Clomid worked for that.

Some doctors will use it for IUI to help you produce more eggs making the IUI a better chance.

I think it depends on the reason and the urgency. In my case I seem to be ovulating but DH's count is low. Plus I am youngish had a successful PG already so the urgency isnt the same as if this was my first. We agreed to try a few "natural cycle" IUI's frist for these reasons and since Clomid does have some risks we woudl start off simpler. BUt if I am not successful after 2 or 3 we will add Clomid.
