My DH and I just got another puppy
Now we have two .. and you have to hear how rude people are in their reactions to us getting another dog....
a) YOU ARE CRAZY - HAVE KIDS!
b) TWO DOGS NOW? WHY WOULD YOU WANT TWO DOGS?
c) UMM GOOD LUCK WITH THAT (DRIPPING WITH SARCASM)
d) HOW ARE YOU GOING TO BE PREGNANT AND ALSO TAKE CARE OF A PUPPY
EXCUSE ME PEOPLE - WHEN WE'RE READY TO START TTC I'LL LET YOU ALL KNOW - IN THE MEANTIME - I LOVE MY CF FAMILY AND I ALSO LOVE MY TWO DOGS .. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

Well, first congrats on your new family member! 
Second, why do people even care that you have another dog? It's not like not having a second dog means you are ready to TTC. If it kept up, I would say something obnoxious like you are using the dogs as practice for when/if you have a baby.
[Not to be taken out of context....I do not think it is any where near the same thing - the response would purely be for shock value and hopefully render the original rude commentator speechless.]

I not only have 2 dogs, I have 2 GIANT dogs. Each at least 60 lbs.  But no one ever thought I was crazy for getting another one- except the ILs but they hate anything that costs money and my landlady.

Ditto. As long as you don't plan to kick the dogs to the curb when you have children, more power to ya.  You'll probably hear a lot about that too, "getting rid of" the dogs when/if you have kids.
When I mentioned to my father that when we buy a bigger house, we want to get a 3rd dog, a special-needs rescue, he said "What do you need another dog for?" I said - it has nothing to do with "need". Why did my sister "need" to have three children? It's about "want" so STEP OFF OLD MAN! Ok, I didn't tell him to step off. But I did say the rest.

people are crazy!! when we adopted our cat, my MIL and FIL refused to come to our place.. I was like whatever.. and then once they HAD to just come otherwise, they were not getting to the airport.. and my little boy purred and rolled over.. and now they adore him.
Honestly, it wouldn't have changed a thing, because my cat is our child, and I have been told so many times to get rid of him when we have kids.. umm, did u get rid of your first kid when you had a second.. ok then!
