Swollen lymphnode in neck?

I had a pain right under my earlobe near my jaw yesterday morning, didn't notice until I was washing my face and the area felt tender. It bothered me alittle but really only when I touched it. This morning I woke up and the area was killing me and I can feel a lump. I went to ugent care tonight because I couldn't take the discomfort anymore and he said it was a swollen lymphnode that I probably got a scratch or something in that area and my body is fighting an infection. What bothers me is that I don't have any cuts or scratches near the area, let alone anywhere else. Is there anyother reason for a swollen lymphnode? I am on antibiotics now. He did check my other lymphnodes and everything else if fine except that one...

The EXACT same thing happened to me on Sunday. At first I thought the pain was in a molar, but when I poked around, I realized it was kind of behind the jaw bone under the ear, exactly as you described.

Mine went away on its own and I did not see a doctor. I think it's just a sign that you're fighting something. I'm sure you will feel better soon, esp since you are on antibiotics.

Thanks for replying, I probably would not have gone to the doctor but in two days it got bigger and was really starting to hurt even when I wasn't touching it. Hopefully the antibiotics kick in soon because my neck is so sore. I just took my second dose this morning.

If the meds don't help get yourself to a Ear, Nose & Throat Dr. I had the same problem
and they found cancer in one of my lymphnodes. Don't take any chances when it comes to something like that. Thank God they got all of the cancer out of me.
