Summer Camp
I am in complete shock with the prices of camp! I had no idea!
What are you doing with your kids over the summer?

Re: Summer Camp
If DH is off, they're doing town programs. If he's not off, they're doing summer camp.
Break it down by an hourly rate & you'll feel a whole lot better.

Re: Summer Camp
If he's still laid off.. they will stay with him. If he is working *pray God* - we will likely put them in camp at Chatterbox or private childcare. Either way it's expensive.. but you gotta do what you gotta do!!

Re: Summer Camp
My older one will go to the JCC Rec program where he attended last year and loved it. It is very reasonable. Must be in the school districtand it is held where he goes to school now - in the K-2 school building.
My 3 yr old (well willbe almost 4 by then), will go maybe 3 half days at the same place he went last year. Merrick Community NUrsery School. I sent him 2 days last year and he loved it that I moved it to three days. It isn't too pricey. Since I don't need camp for child care - I don't feel the need to spend tons of money - it is more for them to have fun with all friends and give me some breathing time. Most of my friends kids do some kind of camp program so no one is around all summer and my kids love camp.

Re: Summer Camp
I use the town camp which is CHEAP compared to regular summer camps.

Re: Summer Camp
We have been going to the Town of Huntington programs and it is so reasonable.
My younger one will go half days - which is $250 for M-F 9-12 6 weeks
My older one is going to go to the extended day $750 M-F 8:30-2:30 6 weeks (you can sign up for 2 week sessions for $250 per 2 weeks)
There are also a ton of science and sports camps that they offer.

I paid $920 for 8 weeks last year. M-F 8:15-5:45pm.

Re: Summer Camp
We're looking for a sleep away camp for SD for at least 2 weeks...then she'll probably go back to the Y camp which is like $900 for 3 weeks, m-f 9am-4pm.
Soooo much money, but I haven't found anywhere that is significantly less with as much to offer as the Y has.
