Back from Appt. With Sirm

I just came back from my appointment with SIRM-Dallas. It was a gruelling 3 1/2 hour drive from Houston. But, well worth it. We ended up being there 4 hours. Just got home an hour ago.

The doctor did a Saline U/S to check out fibroid location (similar to HSG) and I had severe cramping. He wasnt able to see the fibroid location ...so, he did a Hysteroscopy. OMG, that was more painful than the HSG.

So the good news is that I don't need a myomectomy. My fibroids are not located in Uterine Cavity. They are located in the Walls. As for my left hydrosalphinx.....he related that it wasnt large enough to be a problem with implantation or miscarriage. He was unable to see it through the saline U/S.

So he gave us the go ahead with IVF. My expected protocol will be:
BCP, dexamethasone (for PCOS), Lupron, Follistim, and Menopur.

Also, I just recently found out that I am auto-immune to my Thyroid (hashimoto's disease) and I am waiting for my results for NKA cells and APA.

Problem: Don't know how we are going to pay for IVF. We dont have the insurance. So until then! I guess I am going to do research on grants or find a job with insurance.

ON the way home, I did become emotional and broke down in tears. Today was overwhelming but I am happy that I know more today than I did yesterday. And I thank all of you Girls for your shared experiences and support!

Re: Back from Appt. With Sirm

A 4 hour Dr appt would have anyone in tears and feeling totally overwhelmed! Plus all the testing and such...of course you were not in perfect spirits.
At least you are getting good answers and that gives you the power to make good decisions.
Hugs to you!!!

Believe me, I didnt want to have to do this drive. But, after thorough research on RE's in my area, this was the best decision for me. I interviewed 3 RE's and they didnt really advocate immune testing. So Lucky me....I have to do the drive.

We did get a bunch of tests out of the way while we were there....which I am so happy about.

Thanks again!

Re: Back from Appt. With Sirm

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I also would say ASK away at SIRM about grants and studies you may qualify for, they are a big proponent of offering clinical trials with low costs to the patients!

Wishing you lots of luck!
