Don't know where to post this...
Does Xanax have any side effects? One being sad/depressed? I have been taking them more frequently and have been feeling blah/ sad couple that with pms and I am a deman

I don't think so...I am no doctor...but it's more of a sedative than a mood lifter/downer, KWIM?
I have taken it a lot in the past....I would feel sleepy, or more relaxed...but not depressed.
If you are using it for anxiety/depression, I would say that is what is making you glum..not the xanax. HTH

I am NOT a doctor, but I do know that bodies need some time to adjust to prescriptions such as Xanax. The only reason I know this is because I've worked with quite a few students on meds like xanax, and almost all of them had a difficult time adjusting to their respective meds. Keep notes about your side effects, and talk to your doctor about them so that s/he can better help you  .

Yes- it can definitely be a side effect, and one that you should call your doctor about. Let your Dr. know exactly what you posted- how you've been taking it more, the feelings you've been having- and have them address it from there.

This, 100%. There are other anti-anxieties you can try, its good to act now that you've recognized that its not normal...it could get much worse!!

My dr had me on it for a few weeks but I had to be taken off two weeks ago. I was pure evil. Nasty. Aggressive. Violent. I cried at the drop of a hat and had mood swings like you wouldn't believe. It took a few days to get out of my system but I feel normal again. Could definitely be the xanax!

Agreed, I've taken it for anxiety attacks but never felt sad or depressed on it, definitely something to speak to your doctor about. I personally only take it on rare occasions and would be worried about myself if I started taking it more frequently....definitely speak to a doctor.

i have xanax for emergencies... not on a daily basis. those who i have personally known who have taken it daily...actually needed an antidepressant and then xanax once in a while.
i think a good therapist could re evaluate what is first.... depression or anxiety or? and then be able to adjust eh doses/meds.
you aer not alone!!!

I take it on ocassion for anxiety and the only thing I usually feel is drowsy. For me it just takes the edge off but everyone reacts differently.

Yes, i had taken xanax strictly for anxiety, once depression enters the picture, time to change it up.... sorry. Hope you feel better soon
