Elementary literacy centers
I'm in the process of setting up literacy centers for my 3rd grade class. I've seen plenty of kindergarten and 1st grade centers, but I feel those activities would be too easy for my students. Any tips or ideas to help me get started would be appreciated!

Re: Elementary literacy centers
I do many literacy centers based on reading comprehension strategies: for example comparing and contrasting practice....I laminated cards with various noun type words. Then they can use a T chart or Venn diagram to find similarities and differences between the two things. They can choose more to compare and also share with the group to last the work time. To extend the center I added an extension task where students must develop a paragraph comparing and contrasting the objects from their organizer (which would help written response for ELA test)...I teach 5th but you can modify depending on your class :) HTH

Re: Elementary literacy centers
Have you read the Daily 5? I just started reading it, and it has 5 centers, read to self, read with someone, listen to reading, word work, and writing. The book has a lot of great suggestions.
