Need a new Vet in Nassau
My husband and I took our 5 year old Toy Fox Terrier to the vet yesterday for her check up. It cost us 402.00!! We paid 140 dollars for the Sentinel pills that we give her each month. She did have some vaccines but still it seems like a lot of money. Just curious if anyone knows someone cheaper. Thanks

Check out A&A in Franklin Square. We take our reptiles there and they're wonderful.

Re: Need a new Vet in Nassau
I got to Massapequa Hospital for Animals and I think htey are on the cheaper side. We never had a bill that high and in the beginning our pup had every puppy shelter issue possible.

Re: Need a new Vet in Nassau
East Rockaway Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Selkowitz is wonderful, trustworthy, and does not rip you off. And trust me, I've been to some vets that really do rip you off. I still travel from Queens to East Rockaway to see him. 516-887-3322.
Although be warned, Sentinel and all that flea/heartworm stuff is going to be expensive no matter where you go.

I use Crawford Animal Hospital in Lynbrook on Merrick Road, they are all great there and not too pricey.

Re: Need a new Vet in Nassau
Try North Shore Animal League's low-cost pet health center. They are very good and they are very inexpensive. You don't have to have adopted from them to use the health center.
I use Terry Animal Hospital in RVC and am extremely happy with them. I haven't used any other small animal vets recently, so I can't say ir they are or aren't expensive. I use them because they are excellent vets.

Re: Need a new Vet in Nassau
I use Park Animal Hospital in Massapequa Park for my dog and found them to be really nice & pretty reasonable. The one vet I have dealt with there is really nice and my dog seems to love her.
As Kara mentioned, NSAL pet health center is also very reasonable - there is usually a bit of a wait there though, even with an appointment. We adopted from them and used their clinic in the beginning - but it is far from home and my dog doesn't like long car rides.

I use crawford too, they've always been great and I think they know we're struggling a little bc my dog had surgery to remove a tumor and it only cost us 600 which everyone says was a favor. We use and LOVE Dr. Josh

Re: Need a new Vet in Nassau
We go to Terry Animal Hospital in RVC - they've been seeing my 2 kitties for the past 7 years and are very reasonable with their rates. All the dr's there are very kind too they treated one of my cats when he had a bladder stone and after he had surgery (the surgery was done at another place because it was high risk)
i really like them

we used them too - for a while. WORST VET EVER!!!!! DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
we used the petsmart clinic for our kitties' shots but they haven't been back to a vet since then so we don't have a regular one i can recommend

We go to Terry Animal Hospital and I think they are just as expensive. My bill is always $350+ per dog, per yearly visit.
