Newsday Cover Story - Shelter Employees Make Over $100K
Has anyone seen the cover story on Newsday today (Sunday) about the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter Employees who make over $100,000/year? It seems that all but 1 of the nine mentioned have political connections. No wonder that shelter has a $7.1 Million dollar budget! How do I get my hands on one of those jobs???!!! It seems you don't even need to love animals to work there, you just need to have the right connections. What a disgrace!

correct me if I am wrong, isn't the hempstead shelter where supposedly the employees were abusive no less?
thats' very special they make that much. What warrants that salary?

You are right it is the same shelter where there are allegations of abuse and neglect by employees. It seems that what warrants that type of salary is not their experience but rather their political connections. It's going to be very interesting to see what else will be brought out about this patronage mill. Big Rally at the shelter in Wantagh, this Saturday at noon. My son and I will be there to be a voice for our homeless shelter animals.
