Anyone familiar with Service Coordinator positions

Looking for a ballpark for salary. I am in the field of education and thinking about going back to school for OT or Speech Therapy. Thought this might be a good environment to work in the meantime.

Any info would be appreciated. TIA

Yes. I am one. Probably not enough for everything we are held responsible for!

Seriously though, I work for a for-profit home care agency so I am paid a higher than average salary there (in the 50's), however, my benefits $uck......they don't cover family health care so half my paycheck goes to that.

I work for the TBI medicaid waiver program.

I also have my Master's degree though and have been working for the program since '05 so know that also factors into my salary.

I think it really depends. I interviewed for a SC position for an agency in the city and the salary was $32K regardless of education or experience.

I also interviewed for a MSC position out here on the island and it was the same old story. Plus one of the expectations was that you have cases all over the place, and put the clients in your own personal car. No f'in way!!!!

I ain't gonna lie either........being a SC is a VERY challenging position. You will gain a lot of valuable experience, however, lots of field work is expected, and being held accountable for EVERYTHING and everyone's problems since birth, not to mention massive amounts of paperwork..........

I have heard it's a lot better for different waivers though so that is something to think about. By that I mean the amount of paperwork.......not the salary.

I direct a SC program for seniors. Depending on their experience, my staff gets paid anywhere from $32-40- not nearly enough IMO.

Wow! Another position totally underpaid for what they do. Honestly, I can not afford a pay cut that great. Any other ideas of positions that is in the field so that I can gain experience and knowledge if I go back to school for OT or Speech Therapy??

Re: Anyone familiar with Service Coordinator positions

I don't know off-hand. Maybe ask people who work in those fields? Salary for anything human-services related really is kind of disgusting in this area, especially given the COL and the amount of crap we are responsible for. This is why I no longer advise anyone to go into social work........I tell them to consider nursing.

You make twice as much, often with less education and experience.
