Attacking and nipping at feet

Not sure why he does this I'm not sure if it the smell of a persons boots or shoes or what but when people come over sometimes my male Yorkie will attack and nip at people's feet. If it's company that will be staying for awhile I usually have to put him outside or downstairs in his crate because he won't stop
