I can't seem to do this unless maybe I am reading a fiction and a non fiction but even then it's rare.

Nope. I can't do this. I don't even like interrupting a series in the middle if I don't have to.

It's funny, I actually NEVER do this, but...I'm doing it right now!

My "main" book is The Winds of War (awesome, BTW) and the secondary one is that Tiger Mother one for my book club. I plan on starting it next week and I'm sure it will be a quick read. The Winds of War is around 900 pages and I'm on 225 currently...

I never used to until my last semester in college. I had to read 28 novels total (I was an English major) so needless to say I got used to it fast. Now I do it all the time, it's actually fun to me.

I do this all the time. I have 1 or 2 upstairs and 1 or 2 downstairs.

Re: Do you read more than one book at a time?

I do it all the time. Sometimes I'll stick with a book for a day or two, then just pick up another book for a while and then go back to the original. While doing that, I usually reread another book at the same time.

I do it usually with a book I've already read and a new book.

I don't, but DW is in the middle of 3 books right now! One of them is on her Nook, which she mainly reads when she's out of the house. The other books she reads in the house.

Re: Do you read more than one book at a time?

I do. I usually read on the treadmill so it's only like 30min at a time so it takes awhile to get through a book. But if I find something better in the mean time, I'll shelve what I have to get through the other one. For instance, now I'm reading The Emperor's Tomb ont he treadmill, but not that into to it so reading The Black Dagger Brotherhood at home. It doens't bother me to do this.

Usually no, but at the moment I'm contemplating a career change and have been reading a few books on that topic. I need to read something fictional for balance.

Re: Do you read more than one book at a time?

i do. especially if i pick up a book and i don't like it, i supplement with something i like more. also, if the book i'm reading is too dark/depressing, i need something more upbeat to get me out of that mood.

Re: Do you read more than one book at a time?

I do but only because I am an English teacher. So I have my pleasure book and then whatever books my classes are reading at the time.

Not me! I can not. I like to complete a book and then move on to another.

Re: Do you read more than one book at a time?

I'm in the middle of 3 books right now, actually...I switch between them depending on my mood.

Then again right now I'm unemployed and I don't have much better to do than read and read and read so its probably a little easier to juggle 3 books at a time.

Re: Do you read more than one book at a time?

I do it all the time...it started when I was determined to get through a series that wasn't all that great. I don't know why, I can never just stop reading a book even if it sucks...I have to finish it...so in between sucky pages I would start a new series and keep coming back to the first just to finish it Chat Icon
Now I find I do it all the time...I'm reading three right now...Catching Fire (#2 book of the Hunger Games); Bloodsucking Fiends (book #1 of the series) and Crave (#2 book of the Fallen Angel series)...I got issues Chat Icon

Re: Do you read more than one book at a time?

I always do this. I have an audiobook playing in the car, one book on my nightstand and another in my Nook (which I'm now reading 2 books on). It's crazy and my DH can't believe that I don't mix them up.

Re: Do you read more than one book at a time?

I do it all the time....although I usually focus on one, and read the other slower. Also I listen to audiobooks a lot because my drive is about an hour and a half each way, so there's usually a third book going.

I can't
Even in college, I would have to read one at a time, quickly, then start the next

Re: Do you read more than one book at a time?

Yes I do.

I used to keep one "livingroom/den" book and one "bedroom" book.

Then I got the kindle and since I can switch back and forth even easier, I am currently reading 3 books at the same time.
