Does anyone here take Lyrica....?
My doctor just prescribed Lyrica for me for pain management.
Why do you take it?
What can you tell me as far as side effects? Weight gain? Drug interactions etc?
If you had side effects did they wear off after awhile?

No Im not....
But I have a connective tissue disorder. Essentially what happens in my case is that Im constantly suffering from pain due to over extension of joints and muscles....

My rheum is thinking about putting me on it-I have bad osteoarthritis, tendon disorder, cysts in my bones, fibromyalgia and interstitial cystitis----phew! I am currently on a Fentanyl Patch, Tylenol #3b for breakthrough pain, and Cymbalta. I have read good and bad thongs about Lyrica-the one con being weight gain :(

Thanks...that's my #1 concern. Im trying to figure out if it's due to increase appetite or metabolism issues. I take other meds that pretty much make my appetite non existent so an increase might be beneficial to me....
I'd like to lose 20lbs not gain it.....
Ive been in daily pain for so long that its an every day thing for me. I dont even think about it any more. I only realize the pain when I have a day where Im not in pain...KWIM?
Im a little concerned b/c once again the doctor was not familiar with my condition at all. I guess it cant hurt to try it for a few weeks and see how things go....
I wonder if it's habit forming....

ask your doctor about metanx
and is there a test he can take to monitor the progress once u take your meds? maybe im going into more than i should ... but def ask ur doc about metanx

Im going to ask on my EDS message board and see if anyone takes it.....
I have a condition called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (unclassified)...
The issue with being treated for the disorder is that most doctors havent heard of it and rather than admit that they know nothing about the condition they either A. act like Im making things up or B. Prescribe me things that I shouldnt be taking...
This summer Im taking a trip down to Baltimore to see a specialist who knows all about the disorder. But until then I need to muddle through...

I took it for fibromyalgia and yes I gained weight and I only eat one meal a day. I also have a metabolism problem and that does not help the weight problem.

i took it for about 1 year. i decided to go off of it and try natural methods- PT, massages and acupuncture and changes in diet. I did not gain weight from it. i took 50 mg 2x a day for about 3 months then upped it to 75. it wasnt a high dose but i think it helped for a while.

I was on it for fibromylagia. It does cause weight gain. I honestly didn't find that it helped much.
