for those of you who took BCPs

How long were you on them before you started TTC. And (I know this has probably been discussed before -- sorry) how long do you give your body to "adjust" before actively "trying"

TIA!

PS: I was on the pill for 3 years w/o a break before stopping.

Re: for those of you who took BCPs

I was on BCP for about 4 years, then stopped for a few months then was on them again for a year. I took my last pill November of last year.

We're going to actively TTC in a few months. Right now just having fun practicing Chat Icon

Re: for those of you who took BCPs

I was on BCP for 4 years. We started TCC on my second cycle off- the first one after my first natural period. I think that my body is still adjusting, but I have been getting AF.

Good luck Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I was on the pill since i was 14 because of a hormone problem, then i went on the BC patch because it was better at regulating me, i went off of it in september and i was PG by december.

I am going to stop after this summer and use charting as my "birth control" until next year when we start trying.

Do you have any more info on "charting"? I went off of Birth Control in Feb and have tried to be "careful" because we don't want to start trying for another year or so. I know there is a more scientific way than the way I am figuring it out now.

Thanks! Chat Icon

Re: for those of you who took BCPs

I was on it for 5 years, then went off. It took 45 days for me to get my first period, and after that my cycles seem to be getting more regular.
I started trying two months after stopping BCP.
Good luck!!

You should get the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler. It explains everythingChat Icon

Re: for those of you who took BCPs

I was on the pill for almost 15 years when I stopped last month. The doc told us it would have no bearing on our ability to conceive. He told us to wait for my first natural period after no BCPs and then get started BDing every other day starting on day 10 (which is this Wednesday). I honestly thought it would take much longer for me to start menstruating again.

Re: for those of you who took BCPs

This is my last month on mine, and I have been on them since I was 19 (so....6 years total lwithout ever stopping)

We are going to chart for a little while too. Our thoughts are that if it happens, it happens. My friend told me to read "The Fertility Awareness Method" and I think I am going to order it from Barnes and Noble today.

DH is really ready and I am just about there.

Re: for those of you who took BCPs

I was on the pill for like 8 years, I just stopped in April....my first period came after 32 days, 2nd month, I got it after 23 days so I think my cycle is still regulating itself

Re: for those of you who took BCPs

I was on BC for 5 1/2 years. I stopped taking them last month. I have no idea what my cycles are like, dont know if or when i O'd, but AF should be here any day (if she is coming). Today is 28 days since my last AF and if i were on BC the day AF would have shown up today.Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: for those of you who took BCPs

I was on for 10 years. My Dr. said I could start TTC immediately, and we did (although it took 18 months to get PG). I got my period 28 days after I stopped taking them and it was totally regular after that.

Re: for those of you who took BCPs

i was on them for about 10 years...stopped them about a year and a half ago..still not ttc, but soon..
so in total i guess it would be about a 2 year rest off bcp.

Re: for those of you who took BCPs

I stopped last month so I can start charting. I am far from regular right now-definitely adjusting to being off the BCP which I have been on for 12 years.

Re: for those of you who took BCPs

My cycles have been totally crazy. I was on BCP for almost 10 years. Went off them at the end of March. Got AF at the end of May (about 60 days later) and now I'm still waiting for it to come a second time (now on day 53). I've been charting so I know I'm not PG (unfortunately). Last weekend I got something that resembled AF, but since I had never ovulated I know it wasn't a real period. I'm planning on calling the dr. today and making an appointment to come in to rule out anything that might be causing problems.

All I know is that this is sooooo frustrating.
