Anyone ever try a juice fast??

I am thinking of trying this for a detox/kick start weight loss plan. I have been dieting and exercising and I just feel my body needs to detox and start over. I have not been doing bad things to my body-- just feel like I could use a refresh.

I just googled a little-- there are some that are like 3 day- and some that can be a week. I stayed at a spa a couple of years ago and they had people doing juice fasts for either a weekend or a week..

Someone I work with does this and swears by it... We all just stare in wonder as she drinks this green juice.

I am sort of curious about it too....

Detoxifying Drinks. Cleansing tonics can help rid your body of toxins and take undue stress off of your liver. A good one to try, courtesy of Esme Floyd, author of 1001 Little Health Miracles: Shortcuts to Feeling Good, Looking Great and Living Healthy (Ulysses Press):
7 ounces of spring water, a lemon's worth of fresh squeezed juice, a pinch
of powdered ginger, 1 tablespoon of flaxseeds and
1 teaspoon of psyllium powder. Salud!

I was reading a MB where many people go on water fasts -- they say it actually becomes more spiritual then physical. You acheive mental clarity and your eyes become super white, things like that.

The Master Cleanse is a good reference for water fasting. It suggested starting for one day and increasing over time. You will also want to ease back into eating with broth and foods easy on the system. The rule of thumb seems to ease back into eating regular foods over half the length of the fast - so if you fast for 3 days you should break the fast over 1.5 days.

my girlfriend does a Friday night to Sunday night fast where she eats just one thing - either apples, grapes, or carrots. All you can eat is the item itself, or the juiced version (obviously you need to juice it yourself, no Welch's ). She does it a couple of times a year. She loves it, but you must be close to a bathroom at all times!!

i tried the master cleanse for about 4 days...it tasted awful in the beginning but you get used to it. it was pretty easy in the beginning, i gave up by the 4 day (all of a sudden I got really hungry!). You lose a lot of weight but gain it back right away as soon as you break it. May be TMI but I have chronic constipation problems so I did it to try and clear myself out and I felt sooooooooo much better.

no, i actually ordered a "kit" online, i believe it was from HERE

You can get all the ingredients yourself from the store but I was lazy. It has to be a certain grade maple syrup. Fresh lemons, they send you organic cayenne pepper. Etc.
