So are the lacrosse sticks broken in half or just in the garbage bag?

They are brave, brave children. Not all that bright to hit an angry woman with a garbage bag full of their toys but very, very brave.

Wow, that's ballsy of them! My kids would probably have been in their rooms all night if it was me.

I am proud/ashamed to admit I cleared out my DD's room yesterday myself. A rude awakening for her when she got home from school but I warned her a few times about keeping it in order. I don't want to be proud or ashamed honestly but I have both feelings about it.

I don't know if I should give her some back eventually if she keeps the place clean (which really shouldn't be hard now that it's a few pencils, crayons and a lamp on her desk) or really get rid of it. Where's the lesson if I give some back?

Thoughts?

They saw me put two huge bags outside. They didn't see me bring them back in and put them in a huge trunk in the basement. My problem is they have too much stuff. I left them with a decent amount of toys to play with. I almost feel guilty that they have so many toys and there really isn't enough room for it all. I plan on keeping them in the basement and will rotate/throw things out as I feel fit. Nice weather can't come fast enough around here.

I know I'm not a parent of an older child, but I wanted to tell you that the first time my mom threatened to throw our toys out if we didn't clean, she did throw them out. We never did it again. After that, when she threatened to throw the toys out, she would put ALL the toys in a pile and give us 1 hour to clean them up. Whatever was still in the pile went in the garbage. She never had to throw out a toy again! So, it works, and I remember it happening, so obviously it stuck with me. I also plan on using this with my children.

That reminds me of when our dad threw out our curling iron because we were fighting over it. He warned us but we'd never thought we'd have to face the 80s without a curling iron.

I agree with this sentiment...I think the first time you throw them out and that's it...its much more likely that they'll comply in the future. They know you mean business.
