iCarly VENT!
I really can't with this show.
It's rated G, yet there's so many episodes that are so cringe-worthy.
For example...my kids are watching it right now and the kids on the show are talking about wrestling in bikinis. The WHOLE show is about wrestling in bikinis, in dog food or something.
I don't know. They say words like "stupid" and "shutup"; lots of episodes about kissing; people being "hot".
Is it me, or are G ratings a little less strict than they used to be?
ETA- I made my kids change the channel.

So funny that you posted this today. I agree with what you said.
Today I was at the doc and had my 5 year old son with me. He was looking through the magazine while I was talking to the doctor and my son said, "she is hot" referring to a lady on one of the pages in the magazine. I thought to myself I wonder where he heard that because that is not how my DH talks. I have also heard the word idiot used on one of the shows recently.

Re: iCarly VENT!
agreed, my son is 6 and watches this. Sometimes I am listening to what they are saying and I ask him to change it. some of the episodes are Completely inapproriate and should not be G

Re: iCarly VENT!
Thank you!!! I thought that I was being too square.
I still have issues with Spongebob and the use of stupid and some double meanings.
I was on the fence....but I am definitely limiting her viewing of this show now.

Re: iCarly VENT!
This show is not allowed in my house. Totally inappropriate IMO. It is geared for 13 year olds and up, and honestly, I do NOT know why a 13 year old needs to be obsessed with half the stuff this show talks about.

Re: iCarly VENT!
I'm so glad you agree with me.
Some of my friends think I'm too uptight.
I don't know...my 9 and 5 year olds don't need to know about fake ID's, going to clubs, kissing, people being hot...etc.
It's annoying though, because especially for my 9 year olds, there aren't a lot of shows that ARE appropriate for him. What's the kid to watch?
Though he has found the show House Of Anubis that he loves and it's really cute.
What do your (around) 9 year olds watch?

SD is 8 and she watches Boomerang..all the old cartoons. Luckily she likes them, because I hate most programming for kids her age!!

Re: iCarly VENT!
It has recenlty been banned in my house when the "I hired an idiot" episode was being shown in commercials. That combined with the inappropriate kissing talk, etc put me over the edge!

Re: iCarly VENT!
Ok well my kids are MUCH younger, but I find in general the Nick shows seem really inappropriate. Billy has been obsessed with Nick Jr. lately, and when the older kids shows come on, I find myself sometimes really caught off guard with things they say.
This actually happened when G was a baby. The channel got left on, and I heard someone talking about "riding" someone. DH heard it too and was like WTH?
FTR, I am a VERY laid back parent, but this really bothers me!
We havent watched Nick since that day until a few weeks ago when Billy got bored with Disney.
While they are not 100% appropriate for my kids age, I really prefer the Disney pre-teen/teen shows (Suite Life on Deck, Wizards)

Re: iCarly VENT!
I posted a question a few months ago about iCarly and most of the replies were pro-iCarly. Very funny how the replies on this thread are the opposite. granted, I'm sure it's different people answering but it's funny.
Eh.... I've watched it with the kids and am not really a fan at all. I posted a follow up that it was really quite a bit of info for younger kids to process - the idea of Sam being a juvenile deliquent basically - she always talks about going back to juvvie is just one of the things that is inappropriate. Or how they torment the doorman. I was surprised a few months ago that so many people let their kids watch it. I don't mean here but I asked people IRL and most 6 & 8 yr olds we know were watching it. I thought it was a more tween/teen show.
Anyway, my DD likes to watch it sometimes, my DS couldn't care less, he likes his Nat Geo Wild shows, which is fine by me. DD actually likes Big Time Rush more and it's pretty tame - tamer than iCarly. And I can't stand Victorious, so they cannot watch it. Ugh!

My DD loves Victorious and Big Time Rush too and I don't like those shows either..I don't like them watching stuff about kissing or boy crazy girls.. they have enough time for that when they are in school..
