Levels taking a long time to drop?

My first beta before bleeding was around 2100

Last Tuesday my levels were at around 2000.

Had blood taken on Saturday and the levels were 1900.

Could this be possible? Why is there hardly any decrease?

Re: Levels taking a long time to drop?

yeah thats painfully slow... i would ask your doctor about it... they like to see a specific percentage drop...

I don't even remember getting betas taken. I think after they checked to make sure everything passed, that was it. But the whole ordeal is so slow-and there is just so much waitingChat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Levels taking a long time to drop?

Diana you may need to get methotrexate. Its a shot they give you-you can ask your Dr about it. Just whatever you do keep going for the bloodwork. Theoretically it should be dropping by half every 3-4 days or so. If not you may have some sort of tissue somewhere-tubes, uterus etc. It could have been an ectopic.

My beta took along time to drop....they started out lower than yours. DOn't rememer exact numbers but they were around 500 for a week. Then went down to 200ish.

Do they have you scheduled for another sono? My doctor did a sono a week or so after the initial one to confirm I had passed everything.

Wouldn't they know this when they did a sono?

I go back for another sono on Thursday. Chat Icon Chat Icon

I am still bleeding, but it's def. less.

I just called and asked for the doctor to call me back. I haven't spoken to my doctor since the day I started bleeding a week and a half ago, and that is ridiculous

Unfortunately most times the tubes are not visible through an abdominal sono.

Diana...I don't even want to tell you how long it took for my #'s to drop...

I know when I had my sono...I had nothing in my uterus, so that is how they knew mine was ectopic. But I also know...my numbers kept increasing therefore the tissue was growing somewhere. Thats when I had the methotrexate shot. And even with that my numbers took a very long time to get to zero.

Re: Levels taking a long time to drop?

I just spoke to my doctor. I felt bad, he called and I just lost it.

He does not think it's an ectopic. He said that the numbers will go down very slowly since I am still bleeding.

I go back for another sono, some bloodwork, and an exam by him on Thursday.

He said at this point (I would be 8 weeks) that I would most probably know if it was an ectopic. He said I would have symptoms and pain.

I just don't know!!! I am ok with the numbers slowly decreasing if that's normal - I just don't want something else to be wrong and not catch it. Chat Icon

Re: Levels taking a long time to drop?

The fact they saw a sac is a good sign, most etopics you dont see that if I'm remembering correctly. Maybe others can answer that better.

My last PG I lost I was further along then you, but I 'think' it took about 6 or 8 weeks to go to zero ( beta).

Try not to worry till Thursday, the sono will give more info. They may have you do a D & C if theres still anything on Thursdays sono b/c thats a long time to bleed( unless its getting lighter?...but it sounds like its natural.

And do not feel bad to want it over with. Its like a slap in the face to have to still deal with numbers and symptoms. Everyone feels the same way

It sounds to me that are experiencing a Blighted Ovum Blighted Ovum and not an Ectopic...you have a sac in the uterus which is a good sign.....

My levels took few weeks to come down and back to zero....be patient..I miscarried naturally (while waiting to get a D&C)...one day I started to bleed very heavy and passed the sacChat Icon on my own....after that the levels started to go down drastically....
