Tonight we are telling SD about baby on the way

And I'm a nervous wreck! I so want this to be an exciting, positive experience for her. I got some little gifts to give to her when we tell her so she will feel excited I hope.

She has been an only child and the center of the universe for so long. My DH is an only child and he said he always wanted a sibling so I hope she does too.

I'm also very afraid of the backlash from her mom. Am I being unrealistic to hope that she will be excited for SD that she will have a sibling? I'm sure I'm being too naive with thinking that.

For those of you with step kids and bio kids, what were your experiences like?

My SD was very excited (she was 7 when we told her)...She already had an older sister (not my DH's ) so she was already not an only child , not sure if that made a difference as she was the only child when she was with us....

The BM didn't lash out until really the first time she saw us all together as a family unit- then all $hit hit the fan...Suprisingly she even bought my DS an outfit with a card signed from them when we got home from the hospital, so I was hoping we were in the clear

What really went on behind the scenes and what she fed my SD's head with we will never know...

Good luck and just keep reinforcing to your SD how special this is ...You can't control BM's reaction, but you can do everything in your power to make this a wonderful experience for your new family dynamic

It went well! She was really excited. DH said BM was excited as well (Yeah right but at least she faked it well )

So far so good.
