I feel your pain. Lego creations cover EVERY surface in my den. Chat Icon
I don't have the heart to make them take them apart so I guess it's my owen fault.

Re: Legos...

We have some assembled and most disassembled. My ds likes to take them apart and rebuild them.

Re: Legos...

That's what I don't like about the Lego kits that build a "thing"-- like Lego City, Star Wars Lego, the castles etc. Once it's built, nobody wants to disassemble it, and also you can't build too many other things with it so it's not as imaginative. To me it's not really "Legos" at this point, but more like putting together a model car or airplane, kwim?

My DS is 5 and starting to want these sets. I'm going to miss the regular Knex/Legos/Lincoln Logs that you could use in a million different ways.

To answer the original question though-- I vote for taking them down!

Re: Legos...

My kids always WANT the kits, especially the Star Wars ones, and then they NEVER build the expected object, always their own version of it. Chat Icon

Re: Legos...

My DS makes the set and then he keeps it put together for as long as it survives. Either he plays with it, moves it or my younger son messes with it and it comes apart. He never really rebuilds them exactly again but he makes some really cool variations or totally new ideas. If I were you, I'd let him do what he wants. Even if he wants to keep it together now, eventually it will not be together. This is always true to the intricate Lego sets especially. If you think he will get upset, I'd leave it together.

There's a few studies on the different types of Lego personalities based on what they do with the finished product.
