Laser Hair Removal?

Anyone had this done?

I have an appointment about possibly getting it done (bikini area) on Saturday. I spend a lot on brazilian waxes which are painful so I want to get this and be done with it once and for all.

I think, in the long-run, it's worth the expense which really wasn't that much - I mean, it's less than my Gucci handbag for God's sake why not?

Has anyone had experience with this? What do you think?

TIA!

Re: Laser Hair Removal?

I had it done. It did not work at all for me. I spent $$$$ and the hair is thicker and darker now than when I started. The only thing that worked for me was electrolysis.

100% worth it for me. I get a few stray hairs now but nothing like how hairy I once was.

Re: Laser Hair Removal?

I had it done, and it takes a couple of sessions, I wont lie, but there are areas that were treated in about 2004 that I no longer need any treatment, the hair has not grown back.

Some areas are more resistant due to hormones, but my experience is it is worth it.

Just take pain killer before you go

Re: Laser Hair Removal?

I already contacted someone b/c my gyno suggested this person - she works out of my doc's office. It is at St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center. So, thanks for the rec but I already inquired with this person and since I know my doc I feel I should use her - she is licensed and all that. She said I'm a great candidate b/c of my hair color and skin color. It is a total of six treatments and free touch-ups for a year if I need them.

The price was half off of what it is normally b/c I'm a patient of my gyno. He gave me a special price b/c I've gone to him forever -- it was $800 total, flat. When normally it is $1600. They gave me a RX for a numbing cream. I think I might get the pits done too but the bikini is the main concern.

Re: Laser Hair Removal?

Also, money-wise, I was averaging about fifty dollars a months for brazilian waxes - which is 600 a year. So, in a year and half or so this will make up for itself. We'll see how it works out.

Re: Laser Hair Removal?

I would say to do the underarm while you are there. I got the best results on that area. I did not realize how much razor burn and chafing I had there until it was gone. I would recommend it to anyone who is having another area done anyway. I know it isn't cheap but I'd do it now.

Re: Laser Hair Removal?

I did laser hair removal on my bikini line. Unless you are good and go exactly every 6 weeks (or what they tell you to do), it may not work. I had it done in a year that I had constant sinus infections and being on antibiotics, I had to skip months of sessions and I didn't have wonderful results. Yes, the hair is less coarse and I don't have ingrown hairs anymore but it still grows. This is after 7 laser sessions.

Yes, it will help but it might not disappear forever.

Re: Laser Hair Removal?

Is this something where you should go to a doctor's office as opposed to a laser treatment center? I want to look into doing this and wouldn't know where to start.

Re: Laser Hair Removal?

One of the best things I spent money on. I am fair skinned with black hair, so I was the "ideal candidate". It hurt like a mo-fo...but it was so worth it. I have not touched a razor in 5+ years. I did full leg, arms, underarm, brazilian. Take advil before. It will still hurt BUT you will be soooo happy for the rest of your life. The cost will be justified long term when you are not spending on waxing for the rest of your life.
