Re: meowing cat
Is she always this way?
Could be the spring, the moon, the mood, the need for affection, age, lots of stuff
I have 2 cats. Personally I hate the constant meows of cats. its one of those I watch and look for in adopted kittens or cats. I know it drives me crazy. We have one now who only gets loud when he's hungry and/or randomly at night but its kinda always. So i expect it.

Re: meowing cat
Mine is very vocal, DH swears that she talks to us. She meows when she is begging for a treat, when she wants to be petted, when she wants to be picked up. She meows loudly when she's staring at the wall, as if whatever is behind it will come out. She has different types of meows that we can figure out what she wants. The loud high pitched one is when she "sees" something in the house that we can't. It must be the ghost visiting.
My first cat was not vocal at all, would meow on the rarest of occassions.

Re: meowing cat
I have 2 cats. My first guy has never meowed, so a year later when we got our second little guy we figured it would be the same, but he has not stopped meowing since he came home. It's so much, but I just figured it was that he was vocal. He's also very affectionate compared to my other guy, so I thought maybe that had something to do with it, but probably not.

Re: meowing cat
My cat has a very distinctive meow right before he is about to throw up. It is higher pitched and almost like a yell. Sometimes he'll use the same meow when he is upset and wants attention.

Re: meowing cat
I have my cat for 2 months and she is very vocal only around me. She was very vocal at the shelter too, they had video of her on there website. I have learned what she is meowing for, it is almost like she is talking to me. LOL I can carry on coversations w/ her, I talk and she meows at me! My other cat will meow occasionally, right now we are dealing with him sleeping in his sisters bed- even though he has his own cat bed. You can bet my new cat is giving me an earful. The cat that meows a lot is a tiger w/ red on her head, she has undertones of deep black on her paws.

Re: meowing cat
my one cat will sit by the door when we (or just DH) leaves and "cry" at the door.
she also will "cry" meow when she's in one room and you are in another. you call her name and she comes running to you and stops meowing.
and she does this early in the morning for no reason. i have to sometimes lock her out so i can get some sleep.
other times she just looks at you and meows to you. and on occasion she meows silently where just her mouth opens a little and you see her tiny bottom teeth but can't hear any sound. it's cute!
the other cat.... doesn't really meow too much. just when she gets food or if she wants to be left alone. once in a while she will meow with a toy in her mouth and walk around with it.

Re: meowing cat
One of my cats meows CONSTANTLY when she cannot be around me. Like when I am a room with the door shut. Taking a nap is impossible if I don't let her in the room (and there are certain rooms that we try to keep the pets out of). I love her but sometimes it gets sooo annoying
