Golden Earthworm

anyone ever join them? I'm considering doing it this year and was wondering if anyone had any experience with this type of crop sharing.

I've done Golden Earthworm for a couple years and love it. It's a lot of food, so I split my share with another LIF'er. So far it's working out great! The veggies are really fresh, and I like how easy it is to e-mail and talk to the farmers directly. More importantly, it got DS excited about vegetables. He always talks about coming with me to get his box, and what we're going to make with it when we bring it home!

It is not a lot for our family of 4. I did not split and would not if we did it again.

I did this last summer with someone from here (we split it since we were both just couples). You get a lot of really great veggies and sometimes even a little suprise fruit! I really enjoyed it. Even with the split share, it was a lot so I would share it with friends/family so it didn't go to waste. Everything was so delicious and I am bummed I can't do it this year (I'll be on maternity leave).

I did it as well - split it with my cousin. we are both families of 2.

There is an organization near me in Queens where I pick it up on Tues.

For me, the splitting was important because you don't really know what you are going to get - I usually grocery shop on weekends so I had to get creative to come up with meals for the unplanned veggies. Having 2 weeks to use them up helped (i.e. eat leafy greens first save potatoes for week 2).

It is a lot of food and also a lot of whatever is in season. Sometimes you will get 7 zucchini so splitting helps, you have 2 weeks to use them. Other times you get 2 bags of tomatoes.

I never wasted and used everything but I love to cook, eat a ton of veggies and freeze lots of things. Splitting was perfect for me and we are already signed up for this year.
