Going to the doctor?
Does anyone else avoid going to the doctor unless it's for something specific (i.e. med refill) or like a serious, serious emergency?
I have had abdominal cramps all day which is out of the ordinary for me, and I feel I probably should go, but at the same time, I don't want to be "that woman" that looks like she is crying wolf if it turns out to be period cramps or something.
(I am on a form of b/c where I can't remember the last time I had my period but started the end of a pack yesterday).

Re: Going to the doctor?
I am completely with you but being that you are questioning it like this I think you might need to go. Better to cry wolf than to really have a problem and leave it unchecked. Good Luck.

Re: Going to the doctor?
I will wait a day or two, but then I would go if it doesn't get better.

Re: Going to the doctor?
do the cramps subside if you take advil? are they more powerful than period cramps? you could be having a diverticulitis attack, or ectopic pregnancy. Go to the dr- explain everything you said here. That it is really abnormal for you, etc. Better to be safe than sorry.

Ditto. I'd probably wait until the cramps got to an unbearable point and then called my mom and asked her what's wrong with me. Usually she knows, if she doesn't, off to the doctor I go.
Not that this is good advice at all.

Re: Going to the doctor?
After years & years of being uninsured & not being able to afford going to the doctor, now that I have insurance I go to the doctor when ever she tells me I have to go. Since I am on prescription meds for migraines & BCP to control my migraines I have to go in every 3 months.

Re: Going to the doctor?
I ended up going to an urgent care place near my job today......both of my regular doctors do not have office hours until the weekend IF I could get an appt.
The pain wasn't AS bad today but I wanted peace of mind. They checked me out, and I was in and out in under an hour...........said that nothing was wrong with me....ruled out pregnancy, UTI, hernia and appendicitis. Said that the fact that the pain was going away was a positive and if it gets worse or comes back, then to go to the ER and request a catscan.

Yep. same here! I have been uninsured for 5 years and would have LOVED to see the Dr. for general exams, pap smears etc..but couldnt. DH finally got insurance and I was so thrilled I made an appt. ASAP to see the Dr..just for a reg. exam. Now that Im insured if I dont feel right I will go to the Dr. I know this is off topic but I never understood people who have great health insurance and never take advantage of it (my brother is one of these people )
