Home studies
Making the decision to adopt was one of the best decisions of my life. I am so glad we did this and am so grateful for everything, I really want to find a way to give back.
I am a licensed social worker and I am interested in getting some experience to be able to help others become adoptive parents.
I need to get some experience with this first. I plan to call some agencies and ask about doing some pro bono work, and once I feel more confident plan to offer to do some low or no cost home studies for people pursuing private adoption.
Does anyone have an agency contact that they would be willing to share that I can call.
Also, I know home studies are really private but if anyone would be willing to share, or knows someone who would be willing, I would love to read a few different ones just to get an idea of format. I dont mind if you depersonalize it, erasing any personal information, its the format that I am really looking for. Especially for same sex parents or second parents. Of course I have mine that I can follow, but I want to make sure when I do it, I do it right, so the adoptive parents dont have any addditional delays because of me.
Any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated.
TIA!
