Had teacher conference and was told my DS can read!

Of course, I know he could read is what the Mother with the Masters in Early Childhood Education should have said. Instead I was shocked. Supposedly he's reading Bob books which again I'm embarrased to say I've never heard of so I had to google them. Does anyone have experience with these books for early readers?

My SIL just brought up Bob books and was shocked I never heard of them (I'm in education too). She homeschooled her kids so I thought that's what they were from.

Chat Icon yeah for your reader. I love when I see my K bring home the next fountas & pinnell level.

We are using the Bob books at home with our DS (just turned 5). They're GREAT-- you get 10 or 12 little readers in a box, we're on the 3rd box. DS can really read a whole book to me!!!

That's great! DS just turned 5 too and I never even thought he could read on his own. Sure he knew a lot of sight words here and there but able to read a whole book I didn't think he'd be doing that until kindergarten at least. I went out to Barnes & Noble and bought some Bob books. My 3 yr old wanted to "read" themChat Icon

We too use the Bob books. My 4 year old loves them and reads them on his own. He just started the third series now.

BOB books are great. My DD did them at her Montessori preschool. I bought some for at home when I had seen how much she liked them.

(And go Momma for your part in creating this budding genius!)

I have no experience with the books you mention.. but I can say that Mo Willems "I Can Read" series is pretty awesome! He uses humor to engage the readers and simple words and repetition to encourage them.

great job! way to go!
We call them Basal books. Started DD on them at 4. I didn't know about them until DD was in her 4yr. old pre-school class.
