Can anyone reccomend a therapist for me?

I just found out my baby has a rare birth defect that will cause him to most likely need surgery when (and if, at this point) he is born.

I just found out on Friday, and I am having a difficult time dealing with this and the unknown.

Does anyone have a therapist that specializes in women who are pregnant with a child with a problem?

I do not know of any in particular, but I would bet if you called one of the early intervention agencies, they could put you in touch with one. I know there are social workers that the EI agencies send to homes who are trained in dealing with these things.

Maybe even get in touch with "child find" (I believe that is what it's called) through the Dept of Health. They evaluate infants to see if they are in need of intervention.

I'm so sorry to hear this.

My therapist doesn't specialize in this, but I would recommend him if you don't have any luck finding someone with that specialization. It's a practice with a few therapists in Suffolk. FM me if you'd like a recommendation.
