Where does your dog sleep/lay down?
I have been through countless beds for Yogi in the last 4 years. I can easily say I've been through about 10 beds. The last one I got him was "indestructible" and cost $80. Supposedly made by the military. NOPE! Shredded!! All of the other ones are cheap from Home Goods b/c I can't see spending more $ on expensive beds. But, I got him one over the weekend and he already ripped it open and pulled out the stuffing. Should I do something other than a bed? I don't have space to give him his crate back b/c he needs a big crate. HELP!

Re: Where does your dog sleep/lay down?
I'm right there with you. My dog has gone through tons of beds. She's won though- she sleeps on the couch if there's room. If there's not, she will literally sit/lay anywhere so long as it's not the bare floor. She has climbed up on our dining room chairs and computer chairs rather than lying on the floor.
Obviously, this doesn't help you at all, but you're not alone.

Re: Where does your dog sleep/lay down?
My dogs sleep in the bed at night but if we are downstairs and on the furniture, they will sleep on these:
They actually love the "crate pillow". I had to buy 2 bc they kept fighting each other for it! I picked them up from Walmart for $20.00 each and they are super soft and have lasted us at least a year and are still in good shape.

Re: Where does your dog sleep/lay down?
our dog does same thing, ruins beds... all of them
he sleeps with us in our bed or he sleeps on his favorite blanket on the floor. He will at times sleep in living room on the couch, but he hates his crate still (almosy 2 yrs old) and we caved so early and let him in the bed so its really our fault

Re: Where does your dog sleep/lay down?
The problem with letting him on the couch is that he is a white dog and my couch is a cranberry color. So, there is hair all over it! I let him sleep with me at night when I have a blanket on top of my comforter so he can't ruin it. But during the day, when the bed is made, he dosen't sleep on my bed b/c he tries to "fluff" the blanket and ends up ripping it.

Re: Where does your dog sleep/lay down?
If she had her way on our bed with her head on the pillow next to me. She likes to have something to rest her head on so we just got her a bed with a bolster on the back so she can snuggle in. She seems to love it and best of all sleeps in there and not our bed. She isn't a destructive type dog so I haven't had to worry about that. Image Attachment(s):

Can you throw a blanket over the couch during the day? They have those cheap fleece ones at Target or even Duane Reade.
My dog does the same thing with "fluffing" the blanket so we have to keep the bedroom door closed. But we have leather couches so the hair isn't really an issue.

Re: Where does your dog sleep/lay down?
I put a blanket on my couch for my dogs b/c even thought they have beds, they have to be where we are. At night one sleeps on the couch, and the other sleeps on the couch then our bed for the rest of the night.
What about something on the couch to protect the couch?

Re: Where does your dog sleep/lay down?
I tried putting a flat bed sheet on the couch but the hair was still all over when I took it off. Maybe I should try a fleece blanket because it will hold his hair better than a sheet.

Re: Where does your dog sleep/lay down?
I put a fitted sheet (king) on the couch - I get them very very cheap at Marburn and they are just for the couch, it seems to cover the entire thing and I don't get too much hair on the couch.
I would just get a cheap comforter or blanet from Marburn for him for the floor - Costco has nice dog beds for about $17 - they are big (big enough for my 90 lb GSD) and unzip. You can wash the cover, if he stops shredding it.
Do you leave him alot of toys? I picked up a bunch of $5 chew toys at Walmart and ordered on lakeside commodities some of those unstuffed dog toys - it looks like I have roadkill all over my house - but it keeps "the boys" occupied when I'm not home and Logan stopped shredding his bed.
Also - very cheap too - at Walmart you can get a tube of tennis balls or a carton of raquet balls - keeps them busy for hours.

Re: Where does your dog sleep/lay down?
We took a comforter that we no longer use (it's twin sized and there's no twin size bed in our house) and folded it in half, laid it in a corner of the bedroom, and put a fleece blanket on top of it. They sleep on that and have never tried to rip it up. And it was free!

I tried this once and he started dragging the comforter all over the house. He took the fleece blanket off, and dragged the comforter around.

Re: Where does your dog sleep/lay down?
My dog really isn't a chewer so he has a sofy dog bed. If he is going to chew everything, then I would just let him sleep on the rug, no bed.

Re: Where does your dog sleep/lay down?
Our dog loves to chew fabric too, especially her bed. But we got this spray that discourages dogs from chewing, which I sprayed all over her bed, and she hasn't chewed it since. It's called Chew-Stop! by Pet Organics.
