This is kind of long, I apologize in advance... you can skip to the bottom for my specific question if you prefer.. a lot of this is a vent.


I was without health insurance for a while, so the GYN I was seeing years ago for endometriosis I stopped seeing a long time ago.

Recently I got my insurance back and was having a problem that I needed to be evaluated immediately... I live in Queens now and went to the Dr. I used to see in Patchogue because I didn't want to go to someone random..

Well, they ****** me off today because I had a follow up appt scheduled for a month now to discuss sono results and discuss how my meds are working for me... I'm still having the same problem I had a month ago,, it had abated for a couple weeks and is back, but I didn't freak because I had an appointment to go to already... I was only going to stick with them until this issue was resolved and then find someone closer for a more regular basis... and they called 2 hours before my appointment to cancel and can't fit me in "because of your schedule" until NEXT Tuesday. I'm ****** because a) I dn't feel well and I can't do anything about it and b) I could have worked OT today and had to say no bc of the appointment and instead I had to cancel my OT for tomorrow so I could run to another Dr. that I'm not familiar with so SOMEONE can check on ym situation before I bleed to death.

Which brings me to my question: Does anyone see a GYN that is NOT and OBGYN? Where, if I need to be seen on an emergency basis for a non-baby related issue, the chance of my appointment being canceled because of a baby delivery is not there? I understand emergencies come up, but this ofice used to do this to me all the time

Don't OBGYN's have provisions for their other patients in case there's an emergency, their other patients who have urgent matters and scheduled appointments don't have to be disregarded? Made me so mad and I'm so uncomfortable right now Chat Icon
