Can you please help me with dog measurements?

I have started making clothes for dogs and I need measurements for different sizes. If you have a tape measurer and a few minutes, I would really love your help.

Tell me the breed and weight of your dog.

Then I need the measurement around the neck and around the girth. That is the widest part just behind the front legs.

Also, please measure the width across your dog's back at his shoulders. I need an idea of how wide to make the top part.

Then tell me how long your dog is along his back. Measure from the base of the neck to where the tail begins.

And lastly, if your dog will let you after all this, put the measurer against his body on the underside. How many inches are there between his front and back legs?
How many inches between the two front legs?

If it's easier, cut and paste this chart and fill it in.

This will really, really help me and quite honestly, I don't know where else I can get the kind of help you all give here.

I will do this when I get home. I have 5 dogs, all different breeds (well I have 2 Shiab Inus, but one is the petit & the other is standard). HTH

One if mine is a Chihuahua I'll get you his later as well. He is very tiny, even though he is done growing, Last measure he was only 4.5 lbs!

smallest first:
Bruno - Chihuahua 4.6 lbs
Neck circumference: 7.5 inches (2 inches from shoulder to base of head)
Neck to tail: 10 inches
Chest circumference: 11 inches
Waist circumference: 9 inches
distance between front legs: 2 inches
Distance between fromt & back legs: 7 inches

Pyxie: Chinese Crested (deer-type body)- 7 lbs
Neck: 7.5 (3.5 inches from shoulder to base of head)
Neck to tail: 11 inches
Chest: 13 inches
Waist: 9.75 inches
Front legs: 3 inches
Front to back legs: 8 inches

Loki - Petite Shiba Inu - 18 lbs
Neck: 13 inches (3 inches from shoulder to base of head)
Neck to tail: 17.5 inches
Chest: 19 inches
Waist: 16.5 inches
Front Legs: 4 inches
Front to back legs: 7 inches

Frank: Very large Pug - 38 lbs
Neck: 17 inches (cannot get the neck to shoulder measurement on him b/c of all the folds it is too hard to tell where his neck ends)
Neck to tail: 14 inches
Chest: 24.5 inches
Waist: 20.5 inches
Front legs: 6 inches
Front to back legs: 7 inches

Foxy - Standard Shiba Inu: 42 lbs
Neck: 17 inches (4.5 inches from shoulder to base of head)
Neck to tail: 18 inches
Chest: 25.5 inches
Waist: 21.5 inches
Front Legs: 4 inches
Front to back legs: 12 inches

Thanks to you all I will be busy this week. I appreciate the time you are taking to help me out.
We just got back from the beach and wouldn't you know it, the weather cleared up as we were packing up. It is beautiful out east even in the rain.

well its easier if you make a specific size and then you can figure out which breeds fit it.... rather than trying to fit it to certain breeds.
tons of online dog boutiques has size measurements... just not necassarily breed specific.

be aware ten different malteses may be all different sizes
