anyone else really struggle when they fall off the wagon?

I've been in a downward spiral with eating for the past 2 weeks.

The last 2 weekends have been a nightmare for me.

It was DS' birthday. My IL's threw a party for him (food galore) and then I had my family party (more food galore), then I made cupcakes for his daycare class (and ate 3Chat Icon ).

Then last weekend, we had a huge family dinner on Sat bc my cousin from China was visiting, Sunday was Easter, candy and chocolate everywhere in my house.

This Friday is a good friend's birthday dinner at a steakhouse, Sat is my nephews b-day.

I have these never-ending things to go to, and so I eat horribly all weekend and then just give up during the week.

How do I get myself out of this rut???Chat Icon Chat Icon

I haven't even tracked for the past 2 weeks on WW and I know I have gained at least 2-3 lbs.

well the good news is that what you listed off was a lot of food and a lot of events so to me 2-3 pounds sounds like you got off easy.

I am the same way. I hate when I gain back even a few pounds, since it was so hard to lose them in the first place and it makes me feel like I will never get back to my goal.

anytime you can do better do it. My problem is more once I stop exercising, I never want to start again. I make excuses of why I can't get out of bed and actually workout. Its a struggle but you just have to try and keep pushing yourself. eventually, the special occasions will quiet down a little and you can try to get back on track. i try to only allow 1 cheat day per week no matter what the occasion.

I'm feeling the same way right now. I had a really bad weekend (wedding on sat and easter on sun). Then Mon everyone in my office brought in their leftover desserts and I had some. As of monday I had gained 2lbs.

The rest of the week I've been really good and was able to lose 1lb, but now tomorrow we're going out for my mom's birthday, sat we have a birthday party, and sun we have another party.

I'm really just trying to convince myself that each day is a new day and just because I messed up the day before doesn't mean I have to mess up today. Start tracking again even if you're going over your points. I feel like it makes me accountable even if I went over. I also need to see how many points I ate for it to really hit me how much I ate.

The most important thing is to look at a new day as a fresh start. You can't undo what you did yesterday, last week, last month, etc. You can only look at today and see what you can do that will bring you back on track.

I read somewhere that even if you blow it during the day, to NOT let that day be a wash and go haywire. That you can deviate once in a while up to 600 calories and STILL be able to maintain or lose weight if the other days you are back in track. Chat Icon

I am so in your shoes---you have no idea. Once I start eating bad, it takes me weeks to stop. I too am on WW and I don't want to weigh in this week. I MUST start tracking again and get my mind right. This stinks!Chat Icon

I have to agree with the person that stated that they have to just take it as though it's a new day.

There were several times where I knew that I shouldn't eat certain somethings, but yeah I went ahead and did it anyhow. I just started over and kept going..instead of saying that you want to lose 10lbs, just say that you want to lose 2lbs in a two week period of time..that makes the goals more reasonable over a shorter period of time.

One more thing...never give up and completely stay off the wagon.

My DS was on spring break, my sister was down visiting from MA and that whole week, I just was sooo out of the WW mode.
My sister wanted NY pizza..LOL
We enjoyed it!
I enjoyed snacks and desserts as well!

Monday morning, I woke up, opened my e-tools, got out my measuring cups and stuff and just started fresh.

I go to weigh in this Sat. I have NO idea which way the scale is going to go, but, I MUST get back! I'm to close to goal to NOT go back.
(LOL, if the scale goes up, well, then goal is farther away), but, I will get there!

ITA 100% with Liza's post too! If you "mess up" at breakfast, get on track for lunch and dinner and you may be OK! Chat Icon
