The resident pictured lives just blocks from the actual Town of Hempstead Town Hall, yet when the shelter was called days ago to assist her with the 28 cats her family desperately needed help with, the family, and cats, were TURNED DOWN AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE OR SOLUTION WHAT SO EVER. The caller kept repeating and pleading to the TOHAS Adoption Coordinator, "But what am I supposed to do???" Officials told her TOHAS would not come to assist, nor would they accept the kittens at the shelter. Thankfully, the banned rescuers were called & swiftly intercepted and assisted with getting all of the cats and kittens into approved rescue groups. If those cats ended up on the streets, they would not have survived, and would have only added to the feral cat population that TOHAS has still not properly addressed. The GOP is hovering over that $7 Million dollar annual shelter budget. Our animals are suffering, our community is suffering. The only people NOT suffering are the Patronage 2 legged friends, like the "Debbie" in the Kill the Kitty Video. There was only ONE Debbie employed as a Kennel Attendant at TOHAS when that past footage was taken. Is this the current "Debbie" who has recently been promoted from ACO to Kennel Supervisor?
