Has anyone had a Lipoma surgically removed?
I have to have one removed. Any experiences or info on the procedure or scar from incision, I would love to hear. Thanks.

Re: Has anyone had a Lipoma surgically removed?
I had one removed from my back right above my shoulder blade, just a little below my neck, a few years ago. I can feel a slight indentation and have a minimal scar.
It was a relatively fast outpatient procedure and minimal pain. It was an easy recovery!

Where is it? My DH had a few small ones removed from his chest/stomach area. There is a minimal scar...he said the procedure was nothing..he was totally out for it. Easy recovery..no real pain.

Re: Has anyone had a Lipoma surgically removed?
I had one removed from my forehead, close to my hairline. I had had it since childhood, but when it began to enlarge, I thought I better get it looked at. Had it done in my Dermatologist's office. No scar I can see and best of all not cancerous!!! I had local anesthetic. Mary

Re: Has anyone had a Lipoma surgically removed?
(This is Kathy116, I just don't feel like signing out of this account and signing back in with my other one).
I had a lipoma removed from my dermatologist two years ago. I assume a few cells were left behind, or maybe I just have a propensity for lipomas, anyways it grew back, and I had my plastic surgeon remove it (on my inner thigh, about the size of a chickpea) when he did my tummy tuck.
THe scar is minimal, but right now it is red. However, I know the way my body heals with scars (I've had more than enough surgeries with scars), and the scar is very red and around the year mark it begins to fade and then goes to white/flesh color and then I barely notice them.
My father had a lipoma on his chest the size of a grapefruit (he never noticed it until he dropped a dramatic amount of weight. He had it removed and his scar looks great.
