Do your kids use an anti-cavity fluoride rinse?
My dentist said they should be using it so they have been. I'm hearing all kinds of negative things about it. Do your kids use one? Why/Why not?

ACT - she doesn't really like it and only uses it once or twice a week.

My dentist says to use it, but we don't. We are not anti fluoride, but too much IMO is just not good. Between, vitamins, toothpaste and certain water, it's enough.

Yes I did several papers on fluoride in college. I am not too keen on systemc fluoride in the form of vitamins. I find in practice that systemic fluoride is overprescribed resulting in fluorosis. I am a big fan of topical fluorides. My kids use fluoride toothpaste and my DD uses ACT rinse. Fluoride rinse will actually recalcify small areas that are breaking down and becoming cavities, something systemic fluoride cannot.
FTR: Topical and systemic are 2 completely different things. Long Island water is NOT fluoridated for the record.

We just started using it at DS's dentist's recommendation...he had two small cavities and she said he is prone to them so it can't hurt to use
ACT.

DD uses ACT bubblegum flavored. She loves it. She also takes prescription vitamins with floride. I took them growing up until I was 16 - - but I am 32 yrs old and have only had 2 cavities ever so I think they work well.
