Sewers: Is this a feasible option?
There is a crib bedding set I have had my eye on. Its now marked down 50%! So I think Im going to pull the trigger on it. I was hesitant at first bc I felt like an entire set was a waste since I wouldnt use the bumpers. However.....now that its 50% off, it makes it much more tolerable. Do you think its feasible to turn a crib bumper into a crib skirt, provided its long enough? It doesnt come with one, but I definitely need one. I guess Id have to open up a hem, remove the stuffing and sew it back closed? Or for those like me that cant sew a stitch, I guess I could use that hem tape to close it back up?
Worst case scenario....my Nana can sew with the best of them and Im sure she would help.
So what do you think, is this doable or am I out of my mind?

It's doable, but you will need to buy some white material to sew it to. You know, the part that goes under the mattress. It would probably be cheaper and easier to just buy a solid crib skirt.

I was thinking of just velcroing it to the mattress support part of the crib, no?
The skirt that goes with the set, is not marked down for some reason and cost MORE than the entire set itself......crazy!

I don't think I'd velcro it to the mattress support. There may not even be enough room between for velcro and fabric. you will also have to figure out what to do at the corners to cover them...mine had pieces of fabric coming down from the corners, separate from the front/side pieces, KWIM? you are more than welcome to my old one if you want it as a template...we are done with it. it was pottery barn kids.

Re: Sewers: Is this a feasible option?
I think you could absolutely do it, but you would likely have to add some fabric to it. I do, however, think you could get away with using the iron-on hem tape to connect the two pieces and make it more stable.
If you want to post pics of what you have, I'm sure amongst all of us, we can give you some direction on how to make it work.

Re: Sewers: Is this a feasible option?
Depends, but I think your best bet might be to buy a cheap crib skirt, cut off the old decorative fabric and attach the fabric from the bumper of the new set to the white portion of the old skirt, using the original as a template.

Re: Sewers: Is this a feasible option?
absolutely doable..
If you have an old sheet laying around, you can use that as the base and measure it out to fit the size of the crib and then attach the actual skirt made from the bumper..
