Williamsburg (BK)
Can anyone tell me about the area? I don't know anything about Brooklyn. I have an interview at a school next week.
How about the commute? Right now I commute to Canarsie.

Re: Williamsburg (BK)
up and coming neighborhood - lots of young people moving in - loft type places.
It's right by the williamsburg bridge that is just over the Brooklyn/Queens border on the BQE ( a few miles south of the LIE) If you come from the LIE you will hit a decent amount of traffic on the LIE and BQE, but I think it's better than taking the Belt/Gowanus

Do you know how the LIE traffic is normally? I would think since its more lanes that the SS Pkwy it wouldn't be as bad, but then again I think more people take the LIE?
I have an interview at a school next week so I am just trying to get all my information straight so I can make the best decision for me!

Re: Williamsburg (BK)
DH and I used to use the bridge a lot when dating (Rego Park to LES), but it was never work times.
I've only had to commute on the LIE to Bayside, so I can't tell you much after that. I would get to Bayside by 7, so that I would avoid major traffic - you will probably be leaving earlier (this is HS right?), so it may be OK.

I am assuming I would be leaving West Babylon by 6 am like I do now.
If it is going to be an hour drive I would consider public transportation so at least I'm not sitting in traffic every day like I am now.
I am just not sure how far the subway stations actually are from the school. There are 5 lines nearby. On a map they don't look that close!
