Re: Sperm Banks
Nope -- DH has low morphology, but that is not really an issue with ICSI.
Does DH have NO sperm??

Re: Sperm Banks
Kara, he has sperm, but we need to look into a sperm bank for his sperm. We just found out last week he was diagnosed with prostate cancer (it has been one hell of a rollercoaster). And we were told after he has treatment we will no longer be able to conceive naturally and should look into a sperm bank. This is such a world wind and I know nothing about sperm banks, invitro, etc.
TIA

Maybe he can see a urologist and they can offer advice?
Or I would ask around as far as your OBGYN goes and even his oncologist should know as its common practice if hes going to be having Chemo at all to refer to a sperm bank.
I wish you both luck. Im sorry for the stress you must be feeling

Re: Sperm Banks
No advice, just hugs and prayers for all you are dealing with
On a positive note, this is one of the most curable cancers around.

Re: Sperm Banks
I'm so sorry you have to go through this. I'm sure your urologist's office can make a recommendation.

Re: Sperm Banks
Jennifer, I am so sorry. I have no information on this. I do have a friend whose DH has MS. He had his sperm frozen when he found out about the MS, long before meeting his wife. I think NYU was the only place that would do IVF for them with frozen sperm. Perhaps you can speak with them at NYU? ALso my DH went to a urologist at Beth-Israel who he was very impressed with him. I can get you the # if you want....

Re: Sperm Banks
I know most IVF clinics will freeze sperm. Mine does ( LI-IVF) I don't know if you have to be a patient there. I know their IVF lab freezes at Mather hospital, I think you just need a prescription from your doctor. I looked on the internet for you and Dr. Gilbert A urologist near North Shore has a sperm bank. his website is http://www.brucegilbertmd.com/about_brg.html
good luck! Elise

Re: Sperm Banks
Thank you ladies, I really appreciate your info, thoughts & prayers. I will definately look into this.
Tomorrow he goes for a catscan and bonescan. Hopefully, it is localized and we can deal with just the prostate and consequences of that.

Re: Sperm Banks
You can freeze the sperm to use in the future. I would speak to his doctor and your OB asap about that. I pray he is better very soon.

Re: Sperm Banks
Thanks ladies. I made an appt with my OB and we have appts next week with NY Presbyterian and Sloan. I will talk to them about sperm banks and IVF. I am so new to all this I don't even know all the terminology.

Re: Sperm Banks
DH was treated at Sloan for testicular cancer...they will be able to give you a list of local sperm banks...we actually used Dr. Bruce Gilbert (one of the other girls posted his website I think).
FM me if you have any questions.

Re: Sperm Banks
I don't have any advice Jen but I just wanted to say how sorry I was to read the news of your DH's diagnosis ...
I know there are many options for you in terms of storing sperm (and the ladies on this board are fabulous and so knowledgable) so I wish you nothing but the best of luck
Many prayers for you and your DH
