Anyone have a cat with HCM?
Our Minxie girl was diagnosed with hypotrophic cardio myopathy (yeah say that 3x fast!) a few years ago and we've had to give her three different meds throughout the day since...the thing is I don't know if I necessarily believe she actually has it. She has NO symptoms, but I don't know if that's because we've had her on the meds. I want to stop giving her the meds, but then if something happened to her I would be crushed. When she was originally diagnosed she had (still has) a heart murmur and that's what led to her being tested. They did an echocardiogram and the doctor bill was I haven't taken her for a second opinion because its so expensive, but I'm always wondering if the doctor I go to is full of s#!+. What would you do?

i would weigh the cost of giving the meds v. getting a second opinion. I would imagine that you could consult with another vet and just bring your kitty's records. since they would not be running the test again it shouldnt be that expensive. I would not jsut stop the medication without evidence that there is no problem.

I agree with Domino.
If you have to give you kitty meds I would call around do different pharmacies and see if you can get a better price. If the meds your doctor is prescribing is a human medication, I would check out target and other pharmacies and see if its cheaper to get it through them. Also when my beloved Buddy was alive, he was on a whole slew of anti seizure and anxiety medication. We ended up using www.diamondbackdrugs.com (recommended by the emergency vet neurologist) and they had the best prices. They also match the price of a pharmacy.
