next step

need some opinions...

we have been going at this for about 1 1/2 yrs now and about 6 months with an RE/meds. This was my 2nd month on clomid and while I had confirmed ovulation both months it just didnt happen. My RE wants to do insemination next month and my DH doesnt want to.

I am so fed up with everything that I just want to stop all meds and try naturally. But I know with my condition (PCOS) I wont ovulate on my own (thats what we did for the first 12 months). And I don't want to take a 'break' because I don't want to lose precious months as this is hard and long enough as its been.

Thanks Chat Icon

How old are you? And why doesn't DH want to try insemination?

Re: next step

I have PCOS as well and have been TTCing for over 5 years. We have had 4 failed IUIs with clomid and are now doing IVF this week.

Men feel very strangely about IUIs. They take it personally that their "boys" should be good enough to do the job. Has your husband gone with you to appts? Has he spoken with the Dr? I know that until my DH met with another friend who was also struggling with infertility, he didn't feel confortable at all. Maybe DH feels like he will get stage fright and won't be able to "produce"

I really think women are so much stronger with all of this infertility stuff! The best of luck to you! Know that we are here to support you! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Im 33. I think he doesnt want to do IUI because we concived our son over 2 yrs ago naturally and only on the 4th month of trying. I still have most of the pregnancy weight on me bringing me to where I am today. Chat Icon

We have yet to talk about it because I told him I dont even want to have the converstaion of the "next step" until I get my period which should be tomorrow. I tested today and BFN so Im just waiting for it to show.

second- Does your husband know or understand that secondary infertility can occur at any time?

Im a prime example. My frist PG I got pg on the 1st try , ( ended with a stillborn) , My second PG I got PG on the FIRST try again ( Ended in M/C).

Now its been 21 months of ttc for me and DH and many many medicated cycles later....nothing.

I think before you go any further you both need ot be on the same page, which you clearly arent. I know it takes men longer to accept and understand fertility etc....but I would suggest talking to him as much as possible without him screaming for you to shut up..lol...what it all entails.

Why waste precious time.

I wish you good luck!!!!!!!!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: next step

i agree with everyone else, but as i've stated on another post, there are also therapists that specialize in dealing with couples that have fertility issues. my dh and i went and she was really good and truly understand what we were going through, down to the schedule, injectiosn, etc. fm me if you are interested in her name and number.

best of luck to you!!

Re: next step

"Staying on the same page" with my husband can be hard too. Try to talk it out and let him know how you feel. Taking a break isn't a bad idea, if you both agree. If you can't, you'll grow to resent his choice and wonder if you should have fought harder to try the insemination.(I speak from my own experience) Good luck and baby dust Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: next step

My DH also was hesitant to do IUIs so I can empathize with you.

Only you know your DH best but maybe have an agreement - if no BFP by Sept then do IUI.

Also I found that most DHs don't mind hearing from the nurses that they have "super and "wonderful" sperm Chat Icon

best of luck to you!
