On Thursday, June 9th, Councilwoman Glenda Jackson will be partnering once again with the Huntington, East Northport and Melville Chambers of Commerce hosting the fifth annual Town of Huntington Job Fair. This year's event takes place at Harborfields High School, Taylor Avenue, Greenlawn between 5:00 to 7:00 pm. A resume writing clinic, hosted by Family Service League, will begin at 4:00 pm.
"We are continuing to face economic hard times and I have experienced firsthand the outcry from the community for more jobs and more career opportunities," stated Councilwoman Jackson. "In recognition of the high percentage of unemployment, it is my vision to join the business community in the Town with our talented and highly skilled workforce. This of course would be a win-win situation for everyone."
The Town of Huntington is unique in that it is the home to a vast array of financial, privately owned and international businesses along the Route 110/Melville Corridor. This Job Fair is focused primarily on the recruitment and retention of Huntington residents for all skill levels in both blue-collar and white-collar positions. Dozens of major businesses in the Town, as well as those small locally owned companies, are participating in this year's event. Examples of companies signed on to attend include: UPS, TD Bank, Suffolk County Police Department, One Stop Employment, Metlife, Gurwin Home Care, H2M, Cablevision, AXA-Advisors, Arbonne International and Leviton Manufacturing Company, to name a few.
All those seeking employment are urged to join in this opportunity to job search, network and interview with employers that are hiring now. There will be great opportunities so all should come prepared to market themselves to future employers. Appropriate business attire is suggested. For additional information, call Councilwoman Glenda Jackson at 351-3171.
