I need some good vibes
My knee has been acting up again (I was diagnosed with Runner's Knee back in January and on the road to recovery). I realized a few hours ago its all swollen and kind of "sticks out" in comparison to my other knee.
I have an appointment with my orthopedist at 1. I'm hoping for not so awful news.
To make matters worse I'm bored (because i'm not working out) so I'm just EATING! I feel so bad about myself right now.
UPDATE:
Thank you for all your good thoughts! Still have the same issue: patella alta (high knee camp). Not much to do except strengthen it. My doctor is sending me for an MRI to rule out any other issues. There's a possibility I may be able to continue running but I also may not. For now, its low impact excercise and working on strengthening my knee again

Awww hang in there colleen. Take it easy on that knee. Do you have access to a pool to do some swimming? Dont worry about the working out..do your best with your food and you will be fine!

Re: I need some good vibes
Don't worry, I'm sure it is just aggravation of runner's knee and is swollen and nothing serious. elevate the leg, ice it, and try not to get too upset. Def. stop running again until it gets better, I recommend swimming if you can or walking or pilates or something until you can go back to running.

Good Luck! I hope your appointment went well. Try to focus on your food intake. When my knees are bad I do pilates and leg exercises with ankle weights as well as upper body work. I stay away from anything high impact.

Re: I need some good vibes
is your doctor a runner? if not, you might want to find one who is to get a second opinion re: not running.

He's a sports medicene doctor that specializes in knees. Do you by any chance know of any doctors that deal specificially with runners?

Re: I need some good vibes
If you are not able to continue running regularly, I know I constantly sound like an advertisement, but I highly recommend checking out hot yoga.
There are a couple teachers at my studio who are in the greatest shape of their lives from HY, who are also former runners.

I don't know any, but can ask my running club. i just know how devastated I was when a podiatrist told me to stop running from plantar fasciitis - when there really was no reason to stop. After the baby, I'm going to one (rec'd on here) who is a runner.
DH was extremely happy with his knee doctor Robert Marx at the HSS. He does not run and had different issues (ACL/meniscus), but he started golfing (which is about 4-5 miles of walking) before he was "cleared" and the doctor was OK with it.

Re: I need some good vibes
I hope you don't have to stop running. I know how much joy it brings you & keeps you on track all around. Hopefully recs of new docs that are runners as PP mentioned will give you new hope.
