Cell Abnormality on a mole?
So, I have a small mole on my toe that I recently had a sample taken from and biopsied.
The doctor just called me and said that it is NOT a melanoma, however the pathologist recommends removing the rest of it because of cell abnormality. From what i've read online, this means it likely would've turned down the road to a melanoma. True or not true?
Now they have to take the rest of it out and its a really tough procedure because of WHERE it is. Its literally on the side of my big toe and it was spreading, I call whats left, the "skid mark." I am freaking out now about removing the rest because shes saying there is so little skin that she won't be able to stitch it back up...so what are my options? Will they graft such a small area? Am I just going to sit there and bleed forever? Ugh. Obviously I'm glad it was caught early, but still annoyed...

Re: Cell Abnormality on a mole?
I had something similar on my thigh. I cant remember what it was called, but they did a biopsy and said it wasnt good but to come in to have more taken out just in case it turns bad.
Anyway, I was able to be stitched so I dont know what the procedure is if they cannot stitch. Call me bc my mom works for an awesome dermatologist and I can ask any questions you need

Re: Cell Abnormality on a mole?
I had the same thing on my back. They put a pressure bandage on it for 24hrs then you just need to keep it very clean, use antibacterial soap and change the bandage (you then use a normal bandage not the pressure type). After I think 2 weeks they took out 1/2 the stitches...then the following week they took the other half out.

It is probably a dysplastic nevus. (I've had my share of skin cancers, and dysplastic nevi).
From my understanding, a regular nevus is a mole, a benign growth. A dysplastic nevus is a growth that has abnormal cells. It may never ever turn into melanoma (deadliest for of skin cancer), or it may. Doctors usually want to take the entire nevus out if there is any abnormality.

this! I have had about 6 removed in my lifetime so far. 3 last year all in relly annoying places (along bra strap line, pant line.. ouch! it would be fin if I didn't have clothes rubbing against them when they were healing). Never on the toe tho, no help there.
