Weird question about interview attire
So DH has a 3rd interview (executive level position) at a large internet company that is headquartered on the west coast. He is interviewing for their NYC office but hsi interview will actually take place at headquarters out west.
For his entire career he has ALWAYS worn a suit to the interview. The e-mail he got confirming this interview states that they are a "casual" company, please feel free to dress comfortable - suits are not required.
Again, this is an internet company on the west coast.
What should he wear? I would usually err on the side of the suit but I do not want them to think he does not fit in with their corporate culture.
ANy input would be great!!

Re: Weird question about interview attire
Maybe slacks, a button down, a jacket & no tie. The in the office attire is probably polo shirts, but I would still go a little more formal for an interview.

Re: Weird question about interview attire
Can you check their website to see what the employees are wearing?
It reminds me of "black tie optional" at a wedding... its your choice but....we will judge.
I'd probably go with slacks, sports jacket, button down shirt, no tie.

My DH has worn dress pants, a long button down shirt, and tie to interviews like this.

Re: Weird question about interview attire
Dh is IT and has worked in an office that wears shorts, t's and sandals and while they would chuckle at the people who wore suits, it all came down to knowledge. I would hate for my knowledge and experience to be overshadowed, b/c I didn't get someone else's idea of casual.
at the very least, I would wear dress slacks with a sports coat and tie.

Re: Weird question about interview attire
I'd still probably tell him to wear a suit.
Or dress pants, jacket and buttondown shirt (no tie).

Re: Weird question about interview attire
That's the beauty of being a guy. If he wears a suit, and he sees that he's way too formal, he can take the jacket off, and drop a notch in the "casualness". If he needs to drop another notch, he can pull the tie off. Within 30 seconds, he can go from formal to business casual....

Re: Weird question about interview attire
I would wear a suit, button down shirt, no tie. If he feels hes overdressed he can take off the jacket. I would also suggest something a bit more young and trendy so it is not a really fancy suit
