Integrated Classes at Barbara C Wilson - cancelled! Any recommendations for another school?
My DS currently attends BCW and we love them. He is currently in a 10-1-2. But is to transition to integrated in the Fall. I just found out that the school will not offer integrated classes in the Fall so I am guaranteed a spot at SUNY - Old Westbury (same Director).
But, we are not sold on the campus or the school. I'm going to tour the LEEDS school tomorrow.
Does anyone have experience with either schools? Or can recommend one?
Thanks!

Don't even bother contacting them. There aren't any spots. There weren't in February when I was looking. They save their spots for kids already enrolled in their schools.
I'm not surprised about BCW. I have found them very misleading. Their integrated class isnt a true integrated class anyway, IMO. This year they only had two typical kids.
I know Just Kids in lindenhurst has spots and possibly AHRC in brookville.

Re: Integrated Classes at Barbara C Wilson - cancelled! Any recommendations for another school?
I've toured: -Brookville Center @ SUNY Old Westbury -LEEDS Center in Manhasset and -School for Language & Communication in Glen Cove
They all have availability, but DS still needs to be screened. I think I'm leaning towards SLCD but, I'm worried about the slightly longer commute.
Also, the district will change my DS IEP back to self contained if I want to stay at BCW. But, I don't think that's in the best interest of my child. :(
Has anyone heard anything about LEEDS or SLCD?
Thanks!!

I know my school district will not send my daughter's packet to SLCD i heard good things about the school. They say that that school doesn't provide a intergrated class setting. My daughter was approved for a integrated class setting.i have been experiencing limited choices where to send my daughter come septemember i was just turned down from suny old westbury they feel a class size of 12 will be to big. They want her to be in a self contained i am against that she is very bright and i want her to have the opportunity to be with atyical preschoolers. My daughter is the only child and she need to be around child that are developing. How did you like babara wilson school?
