D+C tomorrow and...UPDATE @ bottom
the nurses at my pre-surgical testing kept saying I am having an abortion tomorrow.
Do you know if they do a sono (for one last confirmation) before the procedure?

You can request a sono, but they probably won't do one without you asking!!!! Unfortunately some people have no tact.... I am so sorry you had to deal with that!!!!

I am so sorry that is so tactless. I had my d&c two weeks ago tomorrow
I requested one last sonogram and there was some mix up and while I kept asking the nurses about it they blew me off right up until it was time to take me to surgery and I asked again and thankfully the doc was there and she said if she wants a sonogram then she will get one.
I have to admit it was very hard for me..I cried the whole way back from the sono but I do feel like it was the best decision for me and I have some solace knowing that I knew for 100 % that the baby was gone.
If you need the reassurance that I did then insist on having a sonogram.
Lots of luck, hugs and prayers to you tomorrow. I know it will be a really difficult day.

I'm sorry I had something similar happen with my d&e and d&c.
People can be so insensitive without even realizing it.
ETA: About the sono question .. I wasn't given one at the hospital before surgery, but I was confident my RE was correct in saying none of the babies had heartbeats. He checked on them for a LONG time Anyway, I could be wrong on this but I think they may do a sono during the procedure itself to make sure everything is positioned correctly. I could be wrong though. I am so sorry you have to go through this!!

ugh I remember when I had my D&C, a nurse referred to it as that, and I was devastated.
I asked for a sono the day or two before my D&C. Nothing was there. This was after many sonos and blood work and waiting for weeks to miscarry naturally. So you can request that you would like one.
I'm so sorry. They really should not refer to it as that. :(

Request the sono, I would hope they would do it for peace of mind (and theirs)
I'm sorry that you had to hear them call it an abortion. I too was taken back by that phrasing on the bill when I received it. Unfortunately they code it that way.

Thanks everyone. I was home by 10am. I'm not in much physical pain. I just sobbed until I fell asleep in the OR. They wouldn't do a sono. It is what it is.

I am so sorry. I know how hard it is. I could barely tell the nurse my name and date of birth in the OR, I was sobbing so hard the doctor came over and held my hand Be prepared for your hormones to be out of whack for a few days and for frequent sobbing attacks.

I'm glad you were at least home early and got it over with before the day even really began I found the anticipation scarier than the procedure itself. I hate hospitals. HATE!!
