CCSS
with the upcoming implementation of the CCSS and all the work it will take on the teachers parts for new planning, pacing, units, curriculum mapping, etc- what is YOUR school doing? specifically, how are they designing common planning for the staff??

we have a few common preps within the week and then we get a few common planning periods with hired subs / or coverages throughout the year. We started our online mapping on Friday and was given 3 periods. It still wasn't enough time. Our principal is retiring so who knows what will happen next year.

We have common planning time every single day and have for the last 3 years. We are grouped by our grade and meet a specific period. We have been working on the CCSS since the beginning of the year. We revamped our curriculum maps to reflect the standards. We've had several PDs about it.
It is a lot of work. I am an English teacher and the new standards push more for non-fiction informational texts while we used to be mostly literature based.
