Post D&C Question
I had a D&C on Wednesday at what would have been 10 weeks pregnant. I had a missed miscarriage, and it was my first pregnancy (after a year of trying).
Physically I thought I was recovering really well - the cramping wasn't so bad and the bleeding seemed to have stopped completely by yesterday morning.
(Emotionally I am such a mess I can barely function, but that's a separate issue right now.)
Last night I had terrible cramps and woke up this morning to much heavier bleeding. Of course it's the 4th of July so the doctor's office is closed and I don't think this is an "emergency" but it has me rather nervous.
Has this happened to anyone? The bleeding tapered off then came back 5 days post-D&C? I have to return to work tomorrow which I was already dreading but this is making it so much worse.
Thanks in advance, and I am so sorry for others who have gone through it. It's the worst experience of my life.

Re: Post D&C Question
I am so incredibly sorry for your loss
After both my d&c AND d&e, I had similar experiences where it tapered off and then came back.
Actually, with my d&c, I didn't really bleed much at all after the procedure. Then one day at work I got a gush of blood and had to scramble around asking a coworker to find me a pad
If you are nervous, ask your doctor.. but I am willing to bet it's all normal since I did have something similar happen! I was told it can come and go like that for several weeks. Just remember to stay prepared.. wear pads just in case..

Re: Post D&C Question
Thanks so much for your reply. I am sure it is probably normal I just wasn't expecting it 5 days after when everything else had gone "so well." With my return to work looming it's adding injury to insult I guess.
If it is still this bad tomorrow I will call my doctor.
Thank you again.

Re: Post D&C Question
I am so sorry...after my d&c I had no to minimal bleeding.about 4 days in, it got really heavy I was nervous and called the dr. I was ok. They said if it is heavier than a period then that is not good and you should go see a dr.

Re: Post D&C Question
I am so so sorry for your loss I had a missed miscarriage too and had a d&c at what would have been 10 weeks pregnant. My bleeding was not that heavy at all but I do remember a spike in the bleeding around day 3 and then it tapered off again the next day. I thought it was because DH was away for the day and I was doing too much with my two kids.
I would call the doctor in the morning just to make sure and take it easy.
Emotionally its a roller coaster and its going to take time.

Re: Post D&C Question
Thank you all. It's already not as bad as it was this morning, but last night was so bad I may still call tomorrow.
Emotionally though I feel like I will never feel "normal" again. Even now... we have people over (just a couple of friends but they have no idea - my husband needed the distraction) and I am inside trying not to be upset.
A few people at work know because I needed help covering my clients last week so I have no idea how I will face the day tomorrow...
My heart goes out to all of you who have been through this. I really have never been so sad in my life.

Re: Post D&C Question
I didn't bleed really at all right after, it was a few days later that I started to bleed, a little heavier than a period and it lasted about a week and a half to two weeks. I am so sorry for your loss.

I'm sorry for your loss.
I didn't bleed after my D+C and then maybe 2 weeks later I started bleeding heavily one day. I checked w/ my dr and she said that it happens sometimes.

Re: Post D&C Question
Just wanted to say i'm so sorry for your loss. I too had a missed miscarriage..I was sooo excited for my first scan at 8.5 weeks, only to found out i had an empty sac. I had never even heard of a missed miscarriage. It does take some time to heal. I have some good days and some bad. Personally, I don't think i'll really ever be truly happy again until I sucessfully become pregnant again. Again, i'm so sorry.

Re: Post D&C Question
Thank you all for your responses. I am at work for the first time in a week today and it is harder than I could have imagined. I'm making it a half day... small steps I guess... It's just so hard to try to be "normal."
The bleeding has slowed down again so I am less worried about that now. It sounds like it was pretty normal anyway.
The hardest part is trying to sleep at night... I close my eyes and re-live the appointment where we saw the hearbeat, the appointment where I was told that my suspicions were right and the baby had stopped developing, and the phone call I made to my mom after that appointment.
I'm averaging about 4 hours of sleep max. And most of that is on the couch in front of the TV because going to bed is too hard. I feel like such a mess.

I am so sorry I can completely relate.
I lost my first pregnancy in the 17th week and I'd often wake up and forget that I was no longer pregnant. It would take a few minutes for it to register and once it did, I'd start uncontrollably crying for the first 20mins of the day.
I promise you it gets easier every day!!

Re: Post D&C Question
Thank you again.
The cramping and bleeding is back again with a vengeance. Looks like I will have to call the doctor after all.
