2 BOXERS- LISTEN UP FOR THOSE WHO REPLIED!!

we got our first dog 4 years ago. He was in a puppy store and was sick with colitis. WE BOUGHT him amd took him home to help him get better!!!!!!!!

We have also paid over $3000 on testing to make sure we found out what was wrong - colitis.

A year later we got a second boxer to help keep the first dog company while we were at work. TOTALLY BENEFITTING BOTH DOGS.

Don't judge a person and state your opinion without knowing the ENTIRE situation!

Perhaps you Do NOT have a child and know how hard this decision is for my husband and I.

We are doing what's best for the dogs and being completely honest about it!!!!

This is my first day with this website and posting topics. I now almost regret joining this forum.

My husband and I are trying all possibilities. We could have just brought them to a shelter and then they would be terminated in 4 days. We do not want that at all.

Re: 2 BOXERS- LISTEN UP FOR THOSE WHO REPLIED!!

Look....i didn't post on your other thread to cause drama

when i saw your thread i figured...well i will keep my mouth shut

then little drama ensued and i more or less gave my opinion on the drama and how i would have posted myself.

BUT since this isn't the giving away of your dogs...

i have to say i do not understand

I am sure you are in your mind doing what is best for the dogs....to that i commend you.

IF MY dog ever became aggressive toward my child i most certainly would seek action..

My first action wouldn't be to get rid of him....it would be to seek assistance...

And IF that didn't work...well i think i would have to give my dog to a family member until my child was older..

BUT that is what I would do...

What i do not understand is that as you said in the other thread....Your dog was never aggressive to your child...

IMO...if you think you are being neglectful to your dogs because of your attention to your child...well why not pay more attention and be a responsible pet owner?

I am only posting my thoughts on this because you opened this up in a separate thread...

SO i am asking

I do have a hard time understanding why one would give a dog away in this situation...

And i guess i think that i have always felt that owning a dog/dogs should be taken very seriously...

when one buys a dog they should know about themselve, what kind of person they are, where they see their lives going...

YES i know you can only think that out sooo far...

But i would think that for the most part...i knew i was going to want to be a mother one day...and i took that into serious account when i and my DH thought about getting a dog...

I feel that this serious THOUGHT is lackig in many people...

That they get dogs and never really think about the real responisbilites of being an owner...

But this is just me...and my view on this kind of topic

Do NOT let people on soapboxes make you feel cruddy about your decision. They think they know what's best for everyone without knowing WHO or WHAT they are talking about.

You are trying to find GOOD and LOVING homes for your dogs and I KNOW how hard that must be to let your furbabies go.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I hope you find them a good home and they can stay together!

Re: 2 BOXERS- LISTEN UP FOR THOSE WHO REPLIED!!

Shana and to the original poster and to anyone~

I went on that other thread to give my opinion, as did A FEW OTHERS, about the drama on the other thread...

i was not claiming to know anything about anyone....
i even said that the opinions about the matter should be spoken about in a separate thread...since they are valid feelings on a valid topic...

THIS THREAD was then started with the intentions of INFORMING...

I had questions and gave my thoughts on the matter...

NOT ON ANY "soapbox" SHANA...

NOT claiming to know anything about her or anyone else for that matter

This new post was started ....not by me but by the poster herself...

AND it was INTENDED for the people who posted on her thread

SO I CAN RESPOND WITH MY QUESTIONS AND OPINION...

get off my soapbox...PUHLEEEEEEEZAHChat Icon

Re: 2 BOXERS- LISTEN UP FOR THOSE WHO REPLIED!!

I'm sorry...my post was not aimed at anyone directly but more of a generalization of the fact that the original poster felt attacked for her situation and what she is trying to do what she feels is best for her animals.

Part of the harshness read in my post was from being attacked myself in my post and accused of neglecting my animals and people almost bashing me for wanting to adopt another dog.

I do not aim at anyone. We do not know her, we do not know her dogs, and we all *think* what we believe is the ultimate right thing to do which is untrue....to each his own and to each animal it's owner is doing what they feel is best for their pet.

It truly does suck that she has to give them up but AT LEAST she is finding them a loving home where they will get the attention they need. She's not chaining them up in the yard, dropping them at a kill shelter, or opening the door and letting them go. She is being a responsible pet owner in MY opinion and I HATE to admit that if I had to choose between my child and my dogs, it'd be the life I created, not adopted. I'm sure she had NO IDEA that 4 years ago, she'd be giving them away.

Again I apologize...did not mean to offend anyone personally. I am NOT like that. I just hate when people get attacked for a personal decision.

Re: 2 BOXERS- LISTEN UP FOR THOSE WHO REPLIED!!

well i by no means am trying to bash anyone

like i said...i didn't bother commenting on her situatoin on her original thread

i did think it was odd and did have my thoughts....but felt that her original thread was really not the place to post them

as i said in that thread itself...

But i guess when this thread was posted i felt that it became a discussion...

again...wasn't looking to attack...

just posted my questions and thoughts on the matter

i by no means feel i know her ....

You don't need to explain yourself to ANYONE!!!!
And certainly not to the people on these boards!
You and your husband have clearly thought about this and are doing what you think is best in this situation!
I can't imagine how difficult it was for you to come to this decision....and I hope you can find good and loving homes for your dogs Chat Icon

Re: 2 BOXERS- LISTEN UP FOR THOSE WHO REPLIED!!

Sorry, but I think it totally SUCKS that you would even think of getting rid of your pets, especially when they have been with you for a long period of time. They have done nothing to deserve being given away because you just dont have the time.

And we can only judge you by what you tell us. And since you stated that you have to get rid of two boxers, because you just dont have time for them because you have a baby, is what I am basing my comments on.

You are taking the steps to get rid of two animals, who probably love you, and are going to be ripped away from a life they are used to, just because you cant make time for them.

Sorry, but you are NOT a good pet owner at all. And if you loved them, you would MAKE time for them.

Palebride..I couldn't have said it better. And I love what you say in your avatar. And I hope she continues to post on here. You are doing what's best in your situation and I can't even imagine what a tough decision it must have been for you and your DH. I feel that you are being responsible because you are looking a place for them instead of leaving them somewhere...or taking them to a shelter. At least you are being productive in searching a good home for them. Best of luck Chat Icon Chat Icon
