Whats you take on this?
So as I posted I got excessed an got a new job right away in the same district. I had no idea I was being excessed so all my paperwork such as my formal observations, lesson plans etc was at my old job. I went on the interview with the shirt on my back and explained this to the principal. I had my friend give me a quick run down on questions they may ask me.. Whats your clasroom management like? Whats your strength? Weakness? He didnt ask me any of that. We spoke about my experience and he askled if i had any problem going from 6th to 3rd? We spoke a little bit more and that was it. And I got the job. Now maybe it was just a good fit and he goes by perosnality and maybe he called my old principal, but dont you think its odd? My Dh said something like I hope that they didnt hire you bc you seem easy going and the guy you will be working with ( its a ctt position) is difficult but they think you can handle it or sometthing like that. What do you think?

Re: Whats you take on this?
I disagree with your DH and this is why. Principals can ONLY hire from the ATR pool. Their options are VERY limited sometimes.
This Principal likely spoke with your Principal who gave a good recommendation. Then you presented as a smart, capable teacher. On top of that you are within the district so the assumption is you know the population and the school probably operates in a similar fashion to your previous school, less of a learning curve.
It is in this Principals best interest to snap you up before another school does and they are stuck with the undesirables in the ATR pool.

Re: Whats you take on this?
I agree with the PP. Since schools are limited to the ATR pool they don't want to lose you by wasting time. The job I got called me the day budgets came in. She even told me at my demo lesson to call her immediately if any other schools offered me a position while waiting for the budget.
Last year the position I got (before my principal refused to release me) had already called me by the time I got home from the interview.
They just really want you!

I also agree with the PPs. You got a job fairly quickly - that's only a good thing!
Congratulations!

Oh no I didn't think he was being mean, but when you are in the DOE like we are we sometimes have info others dont I can see where he is coming from under "normal" circumtances, but this is the DOE= not normal

Re: Whats you take on this?
I think principals who have experience and are good at what they good can get a sense pretty quickly about a person. When I went to interview at my current school my experience was similar. I did have a verbal recommendation from someone he knew, but he wasn't even interested in seeing my resume!
I agree w/ the others too- he probably wants his spots filled ASAP and didn't want to risk losing you.
